Job Description Summary
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program Lead manages the successful planning, execution, and delivery of AI projects. The AI Program Lead has a solid foundation in project management, with expertise in AI governance, policies, and their implications. The Lead is experienced in developing and managing AI pilot programs, conducting technology assessments related to generative AI, and applying AI technologies and capabilities. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background with excellent project management skills and a demonstrated passion for AI technologies. This position may also have responsibility for providing people leadership to staff that are part of the AI program.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Identifies potential AI applications across the business and executes on the overall AI roadmap.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translates them into actionable AI projects.
- Assesses the feasibility of AI projects, considering technical limitations and ethical considerations.
- Collaborates with internal governance department(s) for audits and assessments.
- Project Management
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams consisting of data scientists, engineers, product managers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develops detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for AI initiatives.
- Monitors project progress, identifies risks, and implements mitigation strategies.
- Manages resource allocation and ensures efficient project execution.
- Technical Leadership
- Stays abreast of emerging AI technologies and trends to identify potential opportunities.
- People Management and Development
- Creates an atmosphere of confidence and trust and motivates team to fulfill the tasks and goals of the AI program.
- Creates an environment for personal growth and continuous learning.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicates project status updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Facilitates collaboration between technical teams and business units to align AI solutions with business goals.
- Addresses potential concerns regarding AI ethics and responsible development practices.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related professional work experience.
- 8+ years of work experience in a software or financial/insurance services organization, 2+ years of which spent managing AI projects.
- Strong understanding of AI concepts, including machine learning and Generative AI.
- 2+ years proven experience in managing complex AI projects from inception to deployment.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills both verbal and written, and proficient in relaying technical information effectively.
- Client or partner facing project management experience, including workshop planning; solution delivery is required.
- Strong planning, risk mitigation, and issue resolution skills.
- Strong analytical, creative thinking, interpretation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Background in software development and data engineering is beneficial.
