Job Summary:
This position is responsible for managing impacts associated with change created by or for the business in support of the division’s strategic vision and goals. Analyzes changes and assesses resulting impacts to division. Ensures division is adequately prepared to accept changes. Takes lead role in representing division for assigned business processes, applications, projects and initiatives through interface with other functional units across the business, ensuring the division’s interests and needs are known and accommodated. Communicates relevant information to management team and solicits input and feedback regarding upcoming changes. Engages process analysts, Learning and Development, internal and external communication, subject matter experts and management as needed to drive effective change management solutions. Takes lead role in planning and executing process, technology and systems initiatives impacting assigned business units and functions.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Continuous Improvement (25%)
- Acts as a continuous improvement consultant to highlight improvement opportunities identified through the Lean Management System and recommend appropriate tools to address them.
- Leads improvement initiatives or serves as consultant / coach on simple to moderately complex problems or analysis such as A3s, Idea Cards, Root Cause Analysis tools, etc.
- Supports visibility and alignment of business priorities, empowerment and engagement of employees, and delivery of measurable value to the customer.
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and learning in the path of the day-to-day work.
- Facilitates and guides teams in developing simple, flexible, and scalable improvements.
- Challenges the status quo and keeps a critical eye on the development of the teams and individuals being supported.
- Works with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Acts as a role model and identifies opportunities for Lean and business improvement.
Projects (25%)
- Plan and manage projects, of varying complexity, priority and risk as determined by department leadership
- Drives internally generated initiatives focused on increasing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
- Applies business and technical knowledge to initiate corrective actions, as appropriate, to ensure that deliverables are produced on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
- Designs solutions and changes to current roles, processes, procedures, training, and systems. Facilitates cross-functional teams and negotiations that result in workable solutions for the department and its customers.
Operational Readiness (25%)
- Represents department in projects and initiatives that will bring about change to the department.
- Engages subject matter experts and relevant process owners to assess impact of change to ensure the department readiness.
- Identifies risks associated with change and develops appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Develops departmental requirements and articulates requirements to source of change.
- Recognizes, resolves and/or escalates potential issues and challenges.
- Provides post-change support to the department to ensure efficient processes after implementation of initiatives.
Job Specifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
- 7 years progressive experience in a business environment; management experience highly desired, or the equivalent education/experience.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with respect to business process design, technology solutions and application of operational and financial data.
- Demonstrated success managing change initiatives or applying process improvement methods in a team-based work environment.
- Understanding of project management methodologies, system development life cycle or change management techniques.
