Title: Privacy Manager

The Community you will join:

The privacy team is responsible for implementing and maintaining a world class privacy program, supporting our product, engineering and operations work to deliver a respected and trusted experience to the Airbnb community as well as maintaining compliance with all applicable privacy and data protection laws.

A typical day:

As a key member of the privacy team, you will partner with other privacy professionals across the company to

  • Provide contributions to the overall global privacy strategy, program design, implementation plan
  • Conduct research and prepare responses in connection with regulatory inquiries and investigations
  • Develop and implement strategy for handling regulatory and privacy inquiries and investigations
  • Partner closely with Airbnb businesses to enable privacy by design in our products, services and business processes
  • Maintain a particular knowledge area such as data subject rights processing, records of processing activities and impact assessments, or customer and regulatory engagements, and drive related initiatives in that area(s)
  • Partner closely and collaboratively with the privacy legal team in the execution of privacy program functions and operations
  • Ensure compliance and operational risks are identified, escalated to the appropriate team and take appropriate steps to remediate risk
  • Keep up with cutting-edge privacy innovations, technologies, approaches, and techniques that can potentially be applied to Airbnb
  • Define and drive program planning and prioritization and be flexible to iterate/change per latest developments to meet agreed upon deadlines and business needs
  • Define success metrics for the privacy program while keeping the metrics up to date and relevant
  • Work closely with business units, operations, product, engineering, legal, etc. stakeholders to ensure successful end-to-end delivery of our privacy ambitions
  • Develop content and present program area and initiative status to leadership on an ongoing

Your expertise:

  • Experience within the Diversity and Inclusion space
  • 4+ years of program or project management experience
  • 4+ years experience in privacy, compliance, security operations and program management, preferably in a global B2C technology company
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or equivalent professional certification is not required, but preferred
  • BA/BS degree
  • Exceptional collaboration, partnership and influencing skills with the ability to work in a global environment across multiple locations and time zones to drive consensus and deliver results in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interface well with technical, operations and business partners at all levels
  • Success in working with product and technology teams to define requirements and implement effective technical tools
  • Experience leading responses to external and internal privacy related inquiries
  • Excellent skills in data management and analysis
  • Proven ability to translate policy and business requirements and work with various levels of business stakeholders to create innovative scalable solutions
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication ability to a diverse stakeholder audience, including a global team of C-level executives, product, and technical stakeholders
  • Strategic platform and system thinker who can balance big picture strategy with detailed, flawless execution
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with superb time management, and an ability to prioritize tasks and work autonomously in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Innate capability to, directly and indirectly, guide cross-functional teams through success
  • A good understanding of how product, technology and design teams typically operate
  • Knowledge and experience implementing privacy principles in a complex technological ecosystem
  • Knowledge of global data privacy legislation, particularly EU legislation, industry practice and how they impact business operations and product design, could identify the potential impact/risk to business according to external regulations change

How we’ll take care of you:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $100,000.00 and $124,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Your Location:

This position is US – Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb,Inc. can employ in states where we have registered entities. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware and Rhode Island.
