Summary:

Principal UX Product Designer

We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer with a strong UX background. You’ll partner closely with content, product, and the wider design team and will be responsible for crafting user flows, wireframes, prototypes as well as high fidelity mockups. You will be challenged in an organization that values vision, execution, and persistence. You will take ownership of our product by solving complex problems in simple, elegant ways. Product Designers at Pearson are embedded within product teams that are deeply collaborative, and each member is directly responsible for the team’s success.

LOCATION: REMOTE – US (prefer MN)

Key Accountabilities

  • Build the user experience and detailed execution of the project
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams from concept through delivery and beyond
  • Work closely with Design Leads to help shape the team’s roadmap, by understanding and advocating for user needs as well as thinking holistically about the product ecosystem
  • Understanding and advocating for all user needs clearly and concisely amongst a variety of audiences from peers to leadership
  • Help define key metrics to track success and business impact
  • Maintain clear communication around expectations to keep alignment of goals and priorities
  • Perform user research and testing, to ensure usability and product consistency
  • Collaborate with our Design Systems team to ensure your work integrates into our ecosystem

You should be able to demonstrate

  • Extensive experience in digital-related design with a digital portfolio of relevant UX design work that shows your process of problem solving and collaboration
  • Understanding of business need and experience in partnering directly with Product Managers and Front End Developers
  • Excellent communication, self management, and organizational skills
  • Highly collaborative in nature, contributing to a positive, team-centric culture and open to give and receive thoughtful feedback

Proven experience in…

  • Consumer-grade apps and websites
  • Journey mapping, wireframes, decision trees, and information architecture
  • Current design tools
  • Explaining design rationale concisely and effectively
  • Working with design systems
  • Agile, lean UX, and mobile first
  • Understanding the relationship of visual, interaction, and content disciplines
  • Currency of design trends in mobile, web, and motion design

Desirable experience in…

  • End-to-end educational assessment journeys
  • Educational/Learning aspects of products

As required by theColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $120k – $150k. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
