Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Principal Geologist / Engineer to join our team in the Rocky Mountain region! Our team uses the latest technologies and methodologies to perform environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation, delivering a cleaner, safer planet for our customers and future generations. In this role you will get to perform a variety of geological/engineering and environmental tasks.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological / engineering principles and theories.
  • Review environmental data to evaluate site conditions, prepare conceptual site models, assess data gaps and their impact, and prepare conclusions and recommendations.
  • Write reports or the technical sections of large reports with minor oversight and/or review reports prepared by others that are within your area of expertise. Examples of the types of reports that may be written include Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, monitoring reports, work plans, quality assurance plans, and others.
  • Lead the technical aspects of projects, including making suggestions to project managers on data collection and evaluation and identifying solutions to complex issues.
  • Work with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
  • May provide technical supervision or guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientists.
  • May serve in an advisory capacity to senior management on specific geology- or engineering-related matters.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • This is a remote/office-based position but may require periodic travel (<15%) for site visits and meetings.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 10 years of related work experience
  • Certification as a Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure in the future

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience on mine remediation/reclamation or experience on PFAS investigations
  • Experience with site characterization, alternatives assessment, and design
  • Experience evaluating data, developing conclusions, and writing technical reports to summarize results and recommendations
  • Prior experience with environmental field sampling
  • Experience working on projects under CERCLA
  • Experience with contractor oversight
  • Experience preparing cost estimates for remedial alternatives or site characterizations
