About Leap
Leap’s mission is to combat climate change by enabling a reliable electric grid that runs on clean energy. The electric grid is transforming from dirty (but predictable) fossil fuels to clean (but less predictable) renewable energy. To do so, the grid needs more flexible demand and supply to help maintain stability and reliability.
Leap plays a crucial role in opening up wholesale energy markets to all distributed energy resources, enabling our partners to get paid for providing flexibility to the grid.
Leap is a privately-held tech company with funding from top VCs and well-known energy entrepreneurs. Our core operations are in the San Francisco Bay Area and Utrecht (NL), but we are a distributed workplace with teammates based in Atlanta, Boston, Boulder, Chicago, Austin, and New York City.
Who are we looking for?
We’re seeking a driven and detail-oriented individual who will be responsible for executing on and improving Leap’s operations in wholesale electricity markets, particularly from a technical, data-driven perspective.
This role will drive our day-to-day asset enrollment operations and is best suited for someone who has an eye for detail and building processes. As you become an expert in this role, there will be opportunities to build technical skills by automating as much of the process as you can. Additionally, there will be opportunities for strategic thinking by working with our product team to build the enrollment process into Leap’s platform and by expanding the enrollment process to new programs and markets.
This role could be a good fit if you:
Must:
- Are interested in building complex processes, continuously improving operations, and learning and implementing optimization strategies
- Are detail-oriented and appreciate cross-referencing your work for accuracy
- 1-3 years exposure to object-oriented programming language such as Python, R or Matlab, and an interest in growing your technical skills in Python
- Strong familiarity with spreadsheets (e.g. Gsheets, Excel).
- Are willing to take ownership of regular reporting processes
- Are excited to work collaboratively in a team alongside a diverse group of amazingly talented and fun people, and at the same time are capable of driving work forward independently
- Can prioritize, juggle and execute tasks to work in a fast-paced startup environment
- Are comfortable working in a remote environment
Plus:
- Have relevant coursework and/or professional experience in data management, analysis, scripting, and visualizations
- 0.5 – 2 years exposure to SQL, and an interest in growing your technical skills in SQL
- Have experience working with Snowflake
- Have experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency or energy trading
In this role you will:
- Support the implementation of strategies and core processes required for participation across existing & new Leap programs in New York (NYISO), Texas (ERCOT), California (CAISO), New England (ISO-NE), the Mid-Atlantic (PJM) and other target Leap markets
- Manage day-to-day enrollment operations & processes (e.g. oversee meter authorization so they can participate in the electricity markets, registering meters in grid operator platforms, coordinating with utilities about enrollment data)
- Analyze energy market data in order to help evolve Leap’s market participation strategies.
- Develop scalable and automated enrollment processes using Python, SQL, and internal tools to support portfolio growth to 100,000+ devices.
- Collaborate with Leap’s Product and Engineering teams to give feedback on new enrollment features for our partners
- Drive documentation efforts across the team for key processes and ongoing improvements
