The People Insights team is looking for a technically savvy data scientist to support critical data analysis, generate behavioral insights, tell compelling stories with data, and help the People Insights team scale our impact. This individual will provide essential support to our client-facing team members, arming them with advanced analyses, visualizations, and insights from client data. We are looking for someone who is equally passionate about telling powerful data stories that can help companies support their people and building dashboards and automating insights that scale the broader impact of the People Insights team. Having an interest in applying your domain and analytic expertise in new ways is a plus.

As a bonus for those interested in data science, we currently leverage Posit (R) Connect, Workbench, and Package Manager!

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct advanced analyses for strategic accounts and opportunities (with quantitative and qualitative data) to uncover the most compelling findings and insights
  • Use clever and compelling data visualization strategies to generate accessible, intuitive, and impactful graphics
  • Support efforts to create repeatable, scalable analytics (e.g. elegant code and output documentation; developing, validating and implementing dashboards)
  • Contribute to the development of an R Shiny application that allows internal customers (BetterUppers) to explore client data, build self-service data visualizations, and automate slides
  • Describe data and findings in an easy-to-understand way that is accessible to our clients, the market and a broad audience
  • Challenge conventional thinking when it comes to measuring how BetterUp drives value for our partner organizations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Data Ops Engineering, Analytics Engineering, etc.) to proactively scope and communicate dependencies and resource requirements to facilitate timely delivery of sprint commitments

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • Deep experience in data analysis with a strong command of R (Posit) and the Tidyverse packages (e.g., dplyer & ggplot) as a toolset for statistical analysis, visualization, and interactive reporting in the context of large and/or complex data sets.
  • Experience developing R Shiny apps is required and experience with SQL, Business Intelligence tools (e.g, Looker), and/or JavaScript is highly valued.
  • Intermediate experience with Excel, Powerpoint, Google Sheets, and Google Slides is required.
  • M.S. (with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience) OR Ph.D. (with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience) in behavioral science or a related field (e.g., business, quantitative psychology).
  • Relevant work experience in applied data analysis, demonstrated expertise in translating analytical results insights from science-to-practice and into client-facing figures, charts, and insights.
  • Proactivity, motivation, and self-starter attitude – you’re someone who has bias toward action and taking intelligent risks, not someone who waits for work to be assigned to you
  • Ability to easily tailor the depth of presentations based on the audience.
  • Comfort with and experience navigating ambiguity (e.g., taking a broad dataset and pulling compelling data narratives with little guidance)
  • Strong partnership and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high bar for craftsmanship.
  • High growth mindset and work to learn attitude.
