Job Description
Manager, Social Impact
Location: New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; Chicago, IL; Washington D.C.; United States – Remote
About the Team
DoorDash’s Public Policy & Social Impact Team advocates for legislation that supports the health of our business and empowers our community of Dashers, local business partners, and consumers. Through our advocacy on cutting-edge public policy issues and the programs that we develop, we are shaping the future of local economies. This unique team combines direct engagement with policymakers at all levels of government, advocacy campaigns, policy research and analysis, and programs to promote equity, safety, and sustainability.
About the Role
DoorDash is looking for a strong operator to lead social impact programs focused on the future of work, owning the strategy for our Dasher-focused impact pillar.
The person in this role will develop programs that increase access to opportunity and financial well-being for people in the gig economy, and enhance the Dasher experience in other ways. You’ll be expected to create a strategy and vision, though you’ll have learnings to build upon from our existing collaborations with nonprofits and government agencies. In addition to cities, community groups, and companies, you will partner with internal stakeholders (Public Policy, Communications, Brand, Strategy & Operations, to name a few) to determine how DoorDash can most effectively advance our vision for the future of work. We believe that dashing increases choice and accessibility in the labor market, allowing people to meet their personal and financial goals on their own terms and filling a need for supplemental earnings.
You will report to the Head of Social Impact in our Public Policy organization. This role can be primarily remote, with the option to work from DoorDash offices, and some travel required.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will
- Strengthen existing programs, launch new ones, and within your first several months roll out a strategic plan, using DoorDash’s technology, resources, and reach to increase access to opportunity and financial well-being for people in the gig economy
- Cultivate partnerships with community partners to strengthen our efforts
- Determine success, track it, and share it, enabling colleagues across the company to use your great work to create additional value
- Operationalize your vision, from creating tools and datasets, to drafting copy, to corresponding directly with Dashers and other stakeholders
We’re excited about you because
- You have several years of experience building and operating programs, products, or business verticals.
- You have knowledge of the social sector and concepts in economic opportunity that inform your thoughtful perspective on how DoorDash can make an impact.
- You think in terms of scalable process and long-term vision. You can build the infrastructure and relationships with a diverse range of nonprofit, government, and internal stakeholders to turn your vision to reality.
- You are confident working autonomously, but experienced at leading group projects.
- You distill complex information and big ideas into compelling narratives.
- Analytics/SQL skills are a strong plus.
