As part of an effort to rebuild the Yahoo Lifestyle brand, we are seeking a writer who can support editorial efforts — whether that be reporting, curating, social support, video hosting and more across the editorial spectrum.

The right person for this role will have a passion for storytelling, with a specific desire to drive innovation in the lifestyle space and connect with audiences through the topics they relate to most whether that be the food they eat, the relationships they have or the pop culture they consume. The candidate will have the ability to deliver complex health and wellness information in a digestible manner and generate unique and user-focused ideas that drive audience growth. This candidate will be a teammate who can help us uphold our mission of being the best guide on the internet by consistently publishing content that adds context, cuts through noise, breaks down complex topics and overall helps our users better understand the world.
Your day at Yahoo
- Pitch ideas for covering lifestyle stories and trends before, as and after they happen
- Track trends and follow breaking news to help inform editorial decisions
- Help grow the audience for Yahoo Lifestyle originals through unique reporting
- Support SEO and evergreen content efforts with updates and net-new content
- Write and report 3 stories per week
- Work with data to inform dynamic and interactive article experiences
- Collaborate with social media, newsletter and visual teams on cross-functional projects
You must:
- Have 5+ years of experience working as a writer
- Demonstrated ability to assign and deliver trending content
- Ability to form differentiated and unique angles into a story being widely covered
- Strong editorial judgment, knowledge of standards and style
- Familiarity and experience with content management and publishing systems
- Understanding of SEO best practices and tactics
