Enterprise Technology Infrastructure, Platforms & Services (ETIPS) delivers services and operational support to meet business integration objectives. SRE is fundamentally doing work that has historically been done by an operations team, but using engineers with software expertise and banking on the fact that these engineers are inherently both predisposed to, and have the ability to, substitute automation for human labor. In general, an SRE team is responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.

Site reliability engineers create a bridge between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration topics. They split their time between operations/on-call duties and developing systems and software that help increase site reliability and performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Transition newly acquired entities existing cloud accounts to Optum’s enterprise cloud organization
  • Modernize newly acquired entities from their data center to cloud native solutions
  • Automate vulnerability and violation remediation
  • Remediate identified security vulnerabilities and risks with new acquired entities
  • Create infrastructure as code in support of newly acquired entities transition to cloud
  • Identify and implement workload optimization in AWS, Azure and GCP
  • Participate in incident response for supported acquired entities
  • Train and educate newly acquired entities to become self-sufficient in public cloud
  • Participate in workload placement strategy sessions with other Optum Teams
  • Develop new capabilities in support of Cloud M&A activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of large enterprise experience
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • 3+ years of experience with Terraform
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solution Architect, DevOps, or System Engineer certification in one or more public cloud providers
  • Terraform certifications
