This is a Lead Site Reliability Engineer position. You will be responsible for building out the development of a new, cloud native interoperability platform. The Retail.io platform is aiming to provide new integration and orchestration capabilities (APIs, services, and data pipelines) to serve multiple Retail technology domains and ensure data consistency across the ecosystem. You will work closely with architects, product owners, and engineers to build out Retail.io, along with improving aspects of our software delivery process.

In this role, you will act as the SRE expert for a cross functional team. You will leverage your significant experience building out cloud-based infrastructure and automation processes to partner with the retail.io delivery teams and design processes to aid in creating error budgets, SLOs and SLIs. You will have accountability and oversight in driving the standards for monitoring the platform and preventing issues, by working various cloud partners to stand up new infrastructure, maintain existing cloud services, and evaluate cloud native technology for keeping the platform healthy. This includes having strong ability to look around the corner at emerging technologies and advise the team around the strategic technical vision for the platform. Lastly, you ll help diagnose issues and write postmortems to improve the overall reliability of our infrastructure and application code over time.

You ll play a key role in application architecture design reviews, identify gaps, and recommend design changes from the start to improve monitoring and reliability. You will actively participate in the engineering community to drive modernization opportunities for the advancement of Retail technology while keeping in mind the complexities of our IT landscape. You ll also maintain excellent code quality and standards as new capabilities are delivered. Lastly, you will play a key role in furthering the modernization journey for Retail Technology team, in alignment with the Enterprise strategy.

Accountabilities include

  • Work with other engineers, scrum masters, and product owners in planning, prioritizing, and performing assigned tasks within deadlines
  • Working with architects and other technical leads to align on standards and best practices for cloud native architecture, engineering, and automation.
  • Create automation roadmaps and developing POC s which will advance the team towards engineering goals
  • Make informed technical decisions quickly and take ownership of platform infrastructure and automation capabilities
  • Lead and participate in design and code reviews, making opinionated suggestions on how to continuously improve our standards and delivery capabilities
  • Be responsible for building a strong engineering culture of improvement and automation within the team
  • Be a champion for and implementer of security best practices
  • Understanding of cloud application design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers to deliver large-scale distributed solutions.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:

  • Minimum: 95,000
  • Maximum: 209,000

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional IT experience.
  • 3 years+ experience as a DevOps (or equivalent) engineer at a large organization
  • 3+ years writing infrastructure as code, perform various scripting tasks, and implement end-to-end deployment automation for CI/CD pipelines.
  • 5+ years of cloud application design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers to deliver large-scale distributed solutions.
  • 3+ years Thought leadership with excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of healthcare business is preferred but not required
  • The ability to multi-task and manage to aggressive deliverable dates
  • Experience working with partners with peers from across business and technology to drive outcomes
  • Experience facilitating adoption of cloud-native/cloud-first architecture
  • Strong technical skills in the following areas: cloud infrastructure, security, and automation along with a working knowledge of IT operations
  • Some understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies
  • Deep collaboration skills and ability to work as a team player seeking alignment and able to influence outcomes

Education

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field required
  • Master s degree in computer science or related field preferred
