Job Summary:

The Human-Centered Design team creates solutions that have a long-lasting impact on our member’s lives and communities by improving their health and well-being. We transform the lives of members through innovative health and life services. Using design thinking, we collaboratively build the products and practices that enable our members to achieve their holistic health goals across all factors of social determinants of health.

The Lead Product Designer will be responsible for delivering high-quality end-to-end experiences that have a measurable impact on our members. They focus on defining and driving strategic initiatives while growing the capabilities of the Human-Centered Design team.

Essential Functions:

  • Define the end-to-end product experience through a human-centered design process by being involved with establishing the initial product strategy to visual implementation to deliver high-quality work that has a visible impact on our member’s lives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advocate for the member experience in our products and practices
  • Facilitate and lead design discussions, soliciting and synthesize feedback to better the member’s experience
  • Conduct and apply customer research (including design thinking, prototyping, and conceptual visualization) with cross-functional partners
  • Drive the iterative design process, constantly sketching, showing work in progress, validating work qualitatively and quantitatively, shipping, learning, and growing
  • Collaboratively define projects and measures of success, test your assumptions and outcomes, and incorporate feedback
  • Improve processes and methodologies (i.e., problem-framing approaches, design research, etc.) to increase product quality, team velocity, and customer empathy
  • Coordinate with other design team members to ensure consistent and accurate communication
  • Perform any other job duties as requested

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor‘s degree in Design, Business, or related field or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required
  • Eight (8) years of professional visual product design experience, designing complex or enterprise-level software is required
  • Three (3) years of experience leading and mentoring team of designers is preferred

Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of different technology solutions in the healthcare space; ability to learn new technology to support business direction and customer needs
  • Expert in design thinking principles and digital product design
  • Knowledgeable in Design Ops and building Design Systems
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams, set priorities, manage projects, deliver results based on requirements and goals
  • Comfortable and confident interacting with business partners and senior/executive leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high level of professionalism
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective listening and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of the healthcare and/or managed care philosophy and environment a plus

Licensure and Certification:

  • Design, Product Design, or User Experience Design certification is strongly desired
