Summary

The Save the Children Social Media team is the organization’s bold and culturally relevant public voice, speaking out for children’s rights to our millions of followers and beyond. We’re seeking a passionate storyteller and creator with social media expertise and a knack for communicating complex, tough topics with compassion and creativity.

You’ll have a deep understanding of how to engage an audience, the ability to design simple graphics and shoot/edit videos for TikTok and Reels, and a portfolio that demonstrates both. You will balance creative brainstorming, collaboration with internal partners, content production, and social media posting in support of the overall Save the Children marketing, communications and fundraising strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

CONTENT PRODUCTION & POSTING (60%)

  • Working with the social media team to pitch, plan, produce and share engaging, original content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other emerging social platforms, communicating what sets Save the Children apart in the global development space
  • Designing simple graphics for social media channels or working with internal design team for more complex projects
  • Producing videos for TikTok/Reels: Ideating, writing script, shooting/editing/posting final creative
  • Pitching and coordinating live video streaming events for social media channels
  • Monitoring and exploring centralized content repository and working with global content and media teams to keep up to date on available assets

COLLABORATION (20%)

  • Partnering closely with brand creative team to ensure alignment with the latest branding guidelines and secure approvals when needed
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to gather assets, develop social posts, and to deliver on shared objectives, including integrated campaigns

INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE & CONTENT STRATEGY (15%)

  • Staying up to date on social media and digital content trends, looking for opportunities to engage on trending topics, and sharing best practices with relevant internal partners to inform future work
  • Tracking performance of social content using native platform analytics, various social listening tools and regular reports to inform strategy

COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT (5%)

  • Monitoring and managing brand reputation through social listening services, managing responses and proper escalation of comments and inquiries to appropriate personnel/departments

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant social media experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop and/or Illustrator, along with understanding of social media image formats and optimization techniques
  • Demonstrated short-form writing skills, capable of writing in voice and within brand guidelines, with knowledge of content/character limitations and best practices for primary public social networks
  • Comfort with on-camera work and editing within social video platforms
  • Proven and demonstrated experience managing multiple simultaneous projects, priorities and deadlines
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 5% and to occasionally work weekends or evenings during domestic and international crises that require real-time social media coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating basic video content and proficiency with Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1- NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Up to $78,000/ year
  • Geo 2-Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $71,000/ year
  • Geo 3-Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $64,000/year

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
