A pioneer in K12 education since 2000, Amplify is leading the way in next-generation curriculum and assessment. Our core and supplemental programs in ELA, math, and science engage all students in rigorous learning and inspire them to think deeply, creatively, and for themselves. Our formative assessment products help teachers identify the targeted instruction students need to build a strong foundation in early reading and math. All of our programs provide educators with powerful tools that help them understand and respond to the needs of every student. Today, Amplify serves more than 10 million students in all 50 states. For more information, visit amplify.com.

The Amplify Desmos Math curriculum blends both paper and digital tasks to support social classrooms, invite mathematical creativity, provoke wonder, and celebrates the brilliance of every student.

Two features are central to our digital lessons: 1) animated, interpretive feedback on a student’s mathematical ideas and 2) intuitive, delightful interactions designed to encourage creativity, exploration, and observation.

Interaction Developers will work as part of the Digital Curriculum team, which itself is part of the larger Amplify Math Curriculum Team, and specialize in graphing or Computation Layer work that supports the development of lessons, practice, and assessments for Amplify Math. This role is a great fit for you if you have strong opinions about what makes an interaction intuitive, delightful, and visually appealing; and can help us understand the perspectives of people who are historically excluded in mathematics, education, or technology. You love learning new things, relish a challenge, and take satisfaction not only in elegant solutions, but also in the creative journey along the way.

Amplify’s COVID-19 vaccination policy requires all staff to provide proof of vaccination for in-person meetings unless an approved exemption is provided.

Responsibilities of the Interaction Developer:

  • Work collaboratively with the curriculum team to author and revise digital interactives and manipulatives for the Amplify Math Suite and brainstorm solutions to challenges or needs that arise in lesson development.
  • Join other Interaction Developers in steadily leveling up the team’s skills by sharing best practices, discussing challenging problems, and reviewing interactions in existing lessons.
  • Explore the boundaries of what’s possible with our technology and offer feedback to the product and engineering teams to help drive future development of the tools we use to build our curriculum.
  • Work with the Design team in integrating images and illustrations into interactives.
  • Participate in workshops with Curriculum and Design teams.

Basic Qualifications of the Grapher, Interaction Developer:

  • Experience with Desmos Graphing Calculator and/or Computation Layer
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or another quantitative field
  • Experience working with students in a classroom, online, or tutoring setting.
  • Proficiency using digital teamwork tools, including spreadsheets and Google Drive
  • Willingness to travel to Amplify’s New York Office Headquarters for occasional workshops

Preferred (but not Required) Qualifications of the Interaction Developer:

  • Face-to-face classroom teaching experience, at any grade level
  • For those specializing in graphs:
    • Proficiency with lists, parametric equations, polygons, restrictions, and sliders in the Desmos graphing calculator
  • For those specializing in Computation Layer:
    • Experience authoring activities that use Computation Layer to provide feedback and give meaning to student thinking.
