The Instructional Designer I is expected to collaborate with the design and development of innovative, results-driven learning solutions using sound instructional design methodologies and appropriate learning modalities for a variety of delivery methods. This includes blended initiatives, e-learning, classroom learning, virtual instruction, gamification, and other web-based and multimedia learning, as well as on-the-job knowledge management through content management systems. S/he is expected to apply adult learning theory to the creation of learning solutions using industry-established instructional design models and tools.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support design efforts across varied learning initiatives, from large-scale, blended multi-media solutions that span the life cycle of learning from early skill acquisition through mastery to discrete solutions targeted at singular performance improvement efforts.
- Develop high quality, cost effective learning solutions that incorporate best-in-class design, instructional methods, technology, and delivery modalities to meet business
- performance challenges as well as career development opportunities.
- Develop source materials and learning content in a variety of formats to meet the design modalities. Particular focus on e-learning and blended learning.
- Project manage production of development efforts including management of schedule and tasks to ensure timely and budgeted completion of all deliverables.
- Design templates to facilitate rapid development efforts.
- Update existing learning solutions to meet the evolving needs of technology, processes, and different audiences.
- Re-engineer existing learning solutions from less efficient modalities to more scalable, evergreen solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to education, design, or technology is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience, including instructional design, project management, and/or content development.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating attention to detail, an effective implementation of principles of design and adult learning, and professionally appealing visuals and layout
- Proven ability to manage and lead multiple simultaneous projects and to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines and/or flexibly react to changing business needs.
- Understand the user experience in online/web-based teaching and learning. Must be able to translate ideas into tangible multimedia products.
- Demonstrable proficiency in Articulate Storyline (highly preferred), graphics programs (Illustrator and Photoshop preferred), video editing software (Camtasia or Premiere Pro preferred), Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
