2. POSITION SUMMARY

Provide 3 to 5 descriptive statements to summarize the overall purpose of the position.

The instructional design and educational technology staff collaborate with faculty and academic administrators to create high-quality, effective and evidence-informed learning experiences at UWS. This role provides Instructional design one-on-one or group level instructional design consultation; answers course-related, LMS and educational technology questions, facilitates new faculty orientation for both on-ground and online faculty; leads or support course development initiatives; prepares courses in UWS’s LMS each term. The position also provides deployment, training and troubleshooting of educational software applications such as Panopto, Zoom, ProctorU eMedley, and others. The educational technologist stays well-informed of software features and upgrades, teaches faculty and UWS staff how to use the applications and provides support to users when applications aren’t working as expected. This position is online/remote and expected to potentially continue through August 2023.

Provide “how to” educational technology support to faculty and integrating technology into teaching practices, including troubleshooting issues with educational technology.

Serve as administrator and super-user for UWS educational software applications (Zoom, Panopto, iClicker, eMedley, Turnitin, ProctorU).

Prepare (copy & format) courses each term

Collaborate with deans, program directors and faculty in the design, development, evaluation and revision of courses or course elements.

Onboard new faculty to UWS and facilitate new faculty orientation in collaboration with the academic program leadership.

Keep abreast of current and relevant trends and best practices in health sciences and graduate education including topics related to accessibility, teaching equity, FERPA and HIPAA.

Education & Training

BA/BS in instructional design or related field

OR

BA/BS plus related work experience, training and/or certifications.

Master’s degree in instructional design or related field.

Experience

Three years of experience in instructional design.

Five or more years of experience in instructional design.

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Working knowledge of compliance for higher education and universal design principles.

Experience with an LMS such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, etc.

Experience with one or more of the following systems: Moodle, Panopto, Zoom, eMedley and LearningSpace.

Intermediate to advanced skill with web page creation and development software, and photo and video creation and editing software.
