Develop user interface designs for web, tablet, mobile, and desktop user applications. Lead and improve the process of defining user interface application design and behavior. Collaborate with software engineers and product managers to produce best-in-class applications.

Design simple, easy-to-use interfaces for B2B and B2C applications with rich and complex features

Plan and conduct user requirements gathering, feature analysis, competitive research, conceptual modeling, and usability testing

Design and specify user interfaces and using iterative design techniques including interviews, usability testing, prototyping, and storyboarding

Document user interface designs with wireframes, user interaction diagrams, low-fidelity prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups

Effectively communicate designs, design concepts, and design rationale both verbally and visually

Contribute and collaborate on cross-functional teams that include product management, engineering, and marketing

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent experience

6 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, user experience engineer, or similar role

Expert understanding of methods for designing easy-to-use interfaces in a variety of web-based, mobile, and desktop formats

Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Balsamiq, Visio, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Flash/Flex, and Adobe Creative Suite

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Proficiency in the use of personal computers and PC applications

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

  • Ability to synthesize complex and large amounts of data into a clear and coherent design
  • Ability to collaborate with different types of business groups in various parts of the company
  • Experience working with responsive web design with complex functionality and features.
  • In-depth understanding of front-end web development and html to be able to work closely with the in-house development team regarding feasibility of designs. (Experience with Enterprise Magnolia CMS a plus.)
  • Experience creating and maintaining style guides/DSM for websites.
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert related to 508 and WCAG to ensure websites are compliant and accessible.
  • Ability to influence without authority and advocate for user experience, digital best practices, and functionality.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment across multiple lines of business, websites, and audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to seek clarity and move forward with little or changing information due to evolving business needs.
  • Willingness/capability to mentor other designers and establish UX processes and best practices to elevate the skill set of our internal resources/team.
