About Caring Across Generations:

Caring Across Generations is a national campaign working to make care more affordable and accessible at every stage of life, while making sure caregivers are treated with respect and dignity. Founded in 2011 by Sarita Gupta and Ai-jen Poo, our campaign is focused on creating change in three ways: organizing a powerful movement of the Caring Majority the majority of Americans who are directly affected by the need for care, fighting for groundbreaking policy at the state and federal level and changing hearts and minds through storytelling, pop culture interventions and cultural organizing.

About the Position

Caring Across is seeking a Graphic Design Manager to join our ambitious and high-performing Communications team as they work to advance the organizational brand, advance our work to transform cultural norms and narratives about aging, disability and care, as well as shift care-related policy so that it is accessible, affordable and equitable.

Reporting directly to the Senior Communications Director, the Graphic Design Manager is responsible for the visual representation of the Caring Across brand across all touchpoints (print, digital, video, photography, etc.) from ideation to execution.

The Manager will work closely with cross-departmental staff teams to maintain our brand identity while developing compelling and user-friendly creative materials that support and advance strategic goals. A collaborative work style, strong design skills, attention to detail, and project management experience are vital.

Role and Responsibilities

Brand management and strategy

  • Develop a nuanced and practical understanding of Caring Across’ brand identity and maintain the organization’s brandbook and brand templates.
  • Ensure all internal and external visual communications reflects and advances the organization’s goals and adheres to brand guidelines.
  • Incorporate and grow design systems while educating staff and peers.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for issues regarding visual identity and graphic design.

Collateral creation and creative direction

  • Design and produce a high volume of digital and printed materials, campaign collateral, presentations, merchandise, ads, and other designed items.
  • Assemble and prepare final print-ready layouts for printers also preps final digital files for online usage.
  • Identify and execute original and engaging design solutions for different types of material, design directions, and creative concepts.
  • Lead multimedia content production efforts, which may include video editing and post-production, as well as photography and photo editing.

Project management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the goals and target audiences for specific initiatives and projects, and develop creative concepts and directions that advance those goals.
  • Present design solutions to cross-functional teams, be open to feedback, and know how and when to advance strategic design choices and best practices.
  • Manage external vendor projects and relationships to deadlines and budget.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in graphic design and/or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience including implementing and extensive understanding of design principles, techniques, and technologies.
  • Candidates should share a portfolio of work with their application that demonstrates experience with Adobe Creative Suite; print and digital design best practices; video editing and post-production programs; photography principles and photo editing.
  • Experience in typography, layout, color theory, and information design preferred.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to collaborate across departments and teams.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and asking for assistance when needed.
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed.
