Enterprise Cloud Architect
US-Remote
DMI, LLC is seeking a Enterprise Cloud Architect to join us.
The Enterprise Cloud Architect III is a senior-level role responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing hybrid multi-cloud IT architecture to support enterprise IT operations and maintenance services. This position ensures that cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives to deliver reliable IT services during routine operations and high-demand scenarios. Key responsibilities include:
Cloud Architecture Design: Develop and maintain a comprehensive hybrid multi-cloud architecture that integrates on-premises systems with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle) to support enterprise applications and services.
- Enterprise Alignment: Ensure all cloud solutions comply with organizational enterprise architecture policies, standards, and technical reference models, including adherence to modern networking protocols and data management policies.
- Modernization and Integration: Lead the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions to modernize IT infrastructure, including migration of legacy systems, optimization of virtual environments (e.g., VMware), and integration with service-oriented architecture (SOA).
- Security and Compliance: Implement certified cloud solutions, ensuring adherence to federal security standards, encryption protocols, and continuous monitoring requirements to maintain a secure cloud environment.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization, including network bandwidth, storage, and compute capacity, contributing to regular capacity management reports and web-based dashboards for stakeholders.
- Change and Configuration Management: Review and recommend cloud configuration changes, maintain configuration management records, and support the organization’s change control processes to ensure minimal disruption during deployments.
- Collaboration and Guidance: Work with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, database administrators, and Agile development teams, to provide technical expertise and ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions across the IT ecosystem.
- Disaster Recovery and Continuity: Design and implement cloud-based business continuity strategies to ensure system availability during crisis or high-demand periods, supporting organizational surge requirements.
- Documentation and Deliverables: Create and maintain architectural diagrams, design specifications, and configuration flow diagrams, delivering artifacts as required by project specifications to designated points of contact.
- Systems Engineering Support: Participate in systems engineering lifecycle reviews (e.g., system definition, critical design) by providing architectural artifacts and ensuring compliance with organizational technical standards.
Qualifications
The Enterprise Cloud Architect III must possess the following skills and certifications to effectively fulfill the role:
Cloud Architecture Expertise: Advanced knowledge of designing and managing hybrid multi-cloud environments, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) models.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle) and enterprise IT systems, such as VMware, Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and cloud management technologies (e.g., Aviatrix, Terraform).
- Security and Compliance: In-depth understanding of federal cloud security standards, encryption protocols, and continuous monitoring practices to ensure a secure cloud environment.
- Enterprise Architecture: Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and standards, ensuring cloud solutions align with organizational guidelines.
- Networking Knowledge: Proficiency in cloud networking concepts, including VPNs, virtual private clouds (VPCs), and software-defined networking (SDN), with experience supporting network integration in hybrid environments.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating technical documentation, presenting architectural designs, and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ITIL Certified,
and Cloud FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP)
Desired Skills/Certifications:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable for the Enterprise Cloud Architect III role:
- Federal Agency Experience: Prior experience working with federal agencies or large enterprises, particularly in cloud architecture or IT modernization projects.
- Advanced Certifications: Additional certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or TOGAF 9 Certified.
- Cloud Migration Expertise: Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud migration projects, including legacy system transitions and data center consolidation.
- Security Clearance Eligibility: Possession of or eligibility for a security clearance to support sensitive operations and comply with organizational security requirements.
- Agile and DevOps: Experience working in Agile environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins or Git.
- Database Integration: Knowledge of integrating cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Oracle 12c, MongoDB) with enterprise applications in hybrid environments.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Background in designing cloud-based disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, particularly for mission-critical systems.
- Innovation Leadership: Experience proposing and implementing innovative cloud solutions, such as serverless architectures or advanced analytics, to address complex operational challenges.
Clearance Requirements: Successful completion of a government security screening and/or a Secret Clearance
Additional Requirements: Successful completion of a Public Trust background investigation and/or a Public Trust clearance.
Additional Requirements: Successful completion of a Fingerprint background investigation.
