Headspace offers a range of coaching and clinical services designed to support mental health and well-being for individuals across various needs and life stages. Their coaching services provide accessible, evidence-informed support through trained behavioral health coaches who help users set goals, build healthy habits, and manage everyday stressors. For individuals requiring higher levels of care, Headspace also provides clinical services, including therapy and psychiatry, delivered by licensed professionals. These services are integrated within a stepped-care model, ensuring that users receive the right level of support at the right time. By combining coaching and clinical care, Headspace creates a seamless and personalized mental health experience that promotes long-term well-being

US-remote job location: we are currently recruiting remotely in the United States for this role. Candidates must permanently reside in the US full-time.

What you will do:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering growth, collaboration, and ownership
  • Drive technical excellence, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and high-quality systems
  • Execute with speed and impact, delivering features that enhance user engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and data teams to align engineering with business goals
  • Leverage data and insights to inform technical decisions and optimize user experiences.
  • Champion innovation and best practices, continuously improving development processes and technical strategy

What you will bring:

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in technical management
  • Proven experience coaching and developing engineers, fostering technical growth and career progression
  • Strong technical foundation in distributed systems, scalable architecture, and modern development practices
  • Track record of leading high-performing teams, driving collaboration, accountability, and execution
  • Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term strategy, ensuring scalable, high-impact solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and learning
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to articulate technical concepts clearly across different audiences
  • Experience leading teams through complex, multi-month projects, setting clear goals and milestones

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in fast-paced, agile environments, navigating ambiguity and rapid change
  • Ability to influence technical direction, ensuring alignment with business and product goals
  • Experience setting technical and tooling strategies to improve team efficiency and quality
  • Passion for mentorship and fostering an inclusive, growth-oriented team culture
  • Familiarity with consumer-facing, wellness, or health-tech products
  • Experience with Node.js OR TypeScript, especially in the context of building high-scale backend services, or hands-on experience developing with Flutter, including deep familiarity with Flutter frameworks, third-party libraries, and APIs.
