eCommerce Technical Product Manager

The Technical Product Manager will oversee frontend and backend scrum teams, managing the entire development lifecycle for our ecommerce site. Key responsibilities include leading infrastructure projects, managing the product roadmap, prioritizing tickets, allocating resources, and ensuring alignment with business goals. This role requires coordinating internal teams and external agencies, using data-driven strategies to optimize project outcomes. The ideal candidate should have experience in large-scale digital transformation, including eCommerce platform migrations (Magento, BigCommerce) and managing an ecommerce site. The Technical Product Manager will manage in-house and offshore resources and bring a blend of technical, project management, and digital marketing skills. This position is remote, but the ideal candidate should work east coast hours, with quarterly travel to the New York Tri-state area.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Project Planning and Strategy:

  • Create comprehensive project plans for engineering initiatives in JIRA and Confluence, including use case documentation, risk mitigation strategies, and resource management.
  • Oversee project planning, facilitate architecture reviews, identify delivery risks, and manage cross-functional dependencies to ensure smooth execution.
  • Prepare and deliver project status updates and initiative reports for C-level executives.

Team Coordination and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Work closely with developers (in-house and offshore), designers, agencies, and contractors to meet delivery deadlines and project goals. 
  • Communicate/report to the business about team’s velocity and projects’ health
  • Work cross-functionally with eCommerce, Logistics, Marketing, Analytics, Design, Engineering, and various stakeholders to prioritize and coordinate development efforts to deliver on schedule

Execution and Quality Control:

  • Instill and run Agile practices in the team, driving process and transparency.
  • Oversee the development, testing, release management and deployment phases of e-commerce website features, ensuring they meet quality standards and project requirements.
  • Manage all Pantone web properties, including general maintenance, development and implementation of new features, and site performance

Performance Tracking, Web Analytics, and Optimization:

  • Establish a clear measurement framework, define critical site metrics, track and analyze performance, and demonstrate business impact
  • Interpret data to measure project success, identify improvement areas, and report insights to stakeholders,
  • Use site data, customer feedback, competitive insights, and industry-standard methodologies to identify areas of opportunity to improve/enhance Pantone digital experiences to drive greater customer engagement and sales throughput

Risk and Issue Management:

  • Proactively identify potential project risks and implement solutions to mitigate them
  • Address any operational or technical challenges swiftly, facilitating problem-solving discussions with team members.
  • Be available as necessary to troubleshoot urgent issues and remove impediments for the team

Organization:

  • This role will report directly to Digital Products Director and will have a dotted line Engineering Manager.
  • This role will have no direct reports.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required for on-site activities

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 5+ years of experience managing multi-channel, technical product / program management strategies, projects, and vendors.
  • Experience owning strategy, development, management, execution, and optimization of technical programs.
  • Solid understanding of how technical product / program management impacts other channels, along with proven experience collaborating across various areas such as development, marketing, and operations.
  • Proven ability to build and manage project plans to committed deadlines.
  • Track record of executional excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional teams.
