Director, Performance Marketing

The Director of Performance Marketing for Biossance will lead a best-in-class, strategic and nimble performance marketing team of four. You will research and identify opportunities in each channel to produce high performing ad content that both tells the brand story and acquires new customers.

This expert excels at integrating business strategies with technology solutions, is proactive, and has excellent project management and communication skills. Ideal candidate has the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth, dynamic work environment, where continuous experimentation and innovation are highly valued. This leader will work collaboratively across the business with eCommerce, Data Analytics, Creative, Retention, Brand Management, Brand Marketing and Digital teams. You will own campaign and audience testing and optimization across all paid channels, for DTC and retail.

This role will report into the VP of Ecommerce.


  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical skills and elevated creative taste
  • Responsible for planning and executing paid media campaigns to meet business objectives and optimize KPIs (that drives to DTC and retail)
  • Steward of budget for all paid media dollars, leading media mix budget allocations and in-flight re-allocations
  • Develop cross-channel media strategies across Paid Search, Paid Social, and Programmatic
  • Identify best in class digital strategies based on current market conditions and campaign performance
  • Provide beauty and skincare-specific thought leadership, ideation, and innovation
  • Strong communicator with ability to share vision and strategies with executive team and stakeholders
  • Lead collaboration of internal channel teams on execution of strategy
  • Continuously research and identify opportunities to produce high-performing and innovative ad content and acquire customers
  • Proven wide sphere of influence cross functionally to create and champion process improvements to increase efficiency

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 12+ years of progressive work experience in paid marketing, creative strategy and management with a strong experience in performance video

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA a plus
  • Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and scaling businesses to $100MM+
  • Strong leadership and managerial experience (oversee a team of 4+)
  • Expert in performance marketing, with experience driving to both DTC and to retailers
  • Developing a deep understand of beauty and skincare brands, industries and competition
  • Extensive experience developing, optimizing, analyzing and reporting on paid campaigns across brand and performance objectives

Amyris is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The annual pay range for this role is $120,000 to $231,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis, and will vary based on the candidate’s skills, depth of experience and specific work location.This role is also eligible for incentive pay, equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and stock options.
