About the Position

The Director, Alumni & Career GTM develops strategy and oversees activation, tracking and optimization of the University’s GTM and engagement strategy for alumni and career for all segments(including engagement journey milestones and communication touches such as email, text, direct mail, social, webinars, newsletters, pendo touches, videos, phone and other digital channels) to drive alumni re-enrollment, student and alumni career advancement, and alumni NPS/advocacy/ambassadorship through nurturing and engagement of alumni. The individual stands up, operationalizes, and optimizes a test-and-learn, agile creative POD model to trigger the right automated and personalized message to the right alumni and student (for career advancement), driving to the right landing destination at the right time, by leveraging organizational data-driven solutions, such as journey orchestration, to determine impact on alumni re-enrollment, student/alumni career advancement, and alumni NPS, and optimize messaging, treatment, and landing destination strategies as real-time as possible. The individual translates University goals into communication, engagement, and nurturing requirements and go-to-market plans for the alumni and student career advancement segments, briefing in those requirements to the creative POD and the marketing, enrollment, and service organizations for activation, monitoring/refining results/plans, and optimizing performance of the go-to-market plans to meet/exceed KPIs, drive engagement, and maximize alumni re-enrollment and student/alumni career advancement to drive revenue and student outcomes growth.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Direct the development and activation of engagement, communication, and contact strategy GTM plans for all alumni and student career advancement segments, including email, social, direct mail, SMS Text, webinars, newsletters, pendo touches, videos, phone and other new technologies throughout the alumni and student journey.
  2. Provide counsel and recommendations for testing roadmap solutions to address business problems identified within the career and alumni workstreams, in line with the strategic direction of the University. Monitor results of the testing roadmap and go-to-market plans and report key insights back to leadership and key stakeholders, along with recommendations for continued optimization and performance improvement.
  3. Develop creative briefs for new initiatives and testing roadmap elements that include research, learnings and messaging to meet business objectives.
  4. Lead monitoring process and optimization efforts for contact and engagement strategy that better meets alumni and student career advancement journey needs, while driving career advancement, NPS and re-enroll growth for this segment.
  5. Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with creative, product, and channel teams to ensure all communications are synchronized and harmonized, including interactions with Phoenix.edu/alumni/career site, as well as digital marketing channels including Email, social, direct mail, SMS Text, webinars, newsletters, pendo touches, videos, phone and other new technologies.
  6. Track and analyze user behavior and response to experience and contact efforts by overseeing tracking and requesting data views into each communication attempt or experience milestone test. Optimize efforts to improve engagement and drive business results based on learnings.
  7. Partner with the Career to develop content to support relevant segments (active students, LOA, and reentry) in their ongoing career engagement efforts.
  8. Identify new, innovative technologies and marketing tools to grow business through re-enrollment and referrals. Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitive shifts and new digital opportunities.
  9. Select, mentor, coach and evaluate staff; establish and monitor appropriate employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance discussions, including one-on-one meetings and quarterly check-ins; implement mentoring and coaching plans, or correction action, where appropriate.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Ten (10) years of experience in marketing leadership with a focus on loyalty, career services, customer experience and engagement/contact strategy

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in higher education or other verticals with a considered decision-making purchase journey
  • Strategic and analytical background with experience designing testing roadmap and orchestrating dynamic A/B tests that yield statistical results
  • Fluent in agile methodology and processes
  • Thrives under pressure and in fast-paced and changing environment
  • Skilled at digesting key insights from data and conceptualizing go-to-market testing ideas and plans from scratch
  • Proven experience in designing communication strategies spanning a broad lifecycle and a variety of segments
  • Strong knowledge of marketing technology and personalization enablement
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong communicator with good public speaking skills to present to senior leadership and other cross-functional groups
  • Experience leading both internal and external cross-functional teams in the design and execution of go-to-market plans
  • Experience in developing strong partnerships with internal marketing partners cross-functionally and external agencies and media partners
  • Demonstrated success in designing integrated, omni-channel go-to-market strategies and activation plans and the development of integrated demand-generation plans
  • Proven experience in a progressively responsible capacity leading and/or acting as a resource to department staff as it relates to integrated marketing initiatives, processes, and activities
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of conceptual and strategic thinking
