We are on the lookout for a talented DevOps Software Engineer who is well-versed in AWS services and harbors a deep-seated passion for refining DevOps methodologies and practices. In this role, you will:

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and Build Cloud-Centric Solutions: Take the lead in crafting and implementing Cloud-centric solutions that support Alight’s Product development teams. Your focus will be on infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, orchestration, and deployment pipelines.
  • Analyze Tool Adoption and Utilization: Evaluate how our internal teams adopt and utilize the Cloud tooling we develop. Your insights will be pivotal in understanding and optimizing these tools for better performance and ease of use.
  • Continuous Improvement and Documentation: Proactively identify areas for improvement in our Cloud tooling products. Document these findings and develop strategic plans to enhance their functionality and user experience.
  • Ensure Compliance and Security: Uphold and enforce the company’s IT infrastructure security protocols and best practices. Your role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and security of our Cloud environments.

What You’ll Have:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust understanding of DevOps principles and practices, with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and security in an AWS environment. To be a successful candidate for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Application Development and Deployment: Proven experience in application development and deployment across a full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environments is preferred. Key programming languages include Python, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Process Automation and Scripting: Skilled in process automation and scripting, particularly with Python and BASH.
  • Diverse Environment Experience: Experience working in both Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • AWS Infrastructure Expertise: Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining AWS infrastructure in a production environment. This includes services like EC2, ECS, RDS, and S3.
  • Configuration as Code: Proficiency in configuring server and application platforms using Configuration as Code best practices, with a preference for experience in Ansible.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience provisioning cloud resources with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Source Code Management and Tooling: Familiarity with source code management and related tooling, including GitHub, CodeCommit, CodePipeline, and CodeDeploy.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills are essential.
  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with development teams, operations teams, and business stakeholders.
  • For this role, we require a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or, in lieu of a formal degree, substantial equivalent work experience in a relevant field will be considered.

  • Automated Infrastructure and Software Delivery: Experience in designing and building automated infrastructure and software delivery pipelines.
  • Extensive Enterprise Experience: More than 5 years of enterprise experience in software development and deployments, showcasing a depth of knowledge in the field.
  • Open-Source Contributions: A history of contributing to open-source technologies and tools, demonstrating community engagement and a commitment to collaborative development.
  • Architecture Expertise: Experience in Infrastructure or Application Architecture, showcasing an ability to design robust and scalable systems.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with working in an Agile environment, using SCRUM or Kanban methodologies.
  • ITSM Environment Experience: Experience working in an IT Service Management (ITSM) environment, particularly with ServiceNow.
  • Mentoring and Training Skills: Demonstrated ability to mentor and train fellow team members, contributing to the growth and development of the team.
  • AWS Certification: Possession of one or more AWS certifications, which validates your expertise in cloud technology and AWS services.
