NerdWallet is looking for a talented Design Director to join our Brand Studio Team. On Brand Studio, you’ll be in charge of leading a group of highly skilled visual designers to create engaging and memorable work that defines the look and feel of the entire NerdWallet ecosystem. With a start-up mindset and your full range of skills in graphic design and art direction let’s push the boundaries of what’s possible to grow and extend the NerdWallet brand. On Brand Studio, we develop and define our brand expression, build creative for our advertising channels, integrated marketing campaigns, our CRM program, content experiences, and our corporate brand.
The right candidate will possess an unapologetic love for managing and mentoring a growing team of visual designers. You have a demonstrated track record of leading people to success through your empathetic management style, developing the talent and skills on the team through your thoughtful approach to art direction, and sharing your vast experience as a designer with the broader team. You’ll partner closely with our head of Creative Production, our Content Strategy team, as well as our key partners on Marketing and Product. This role reports into NerdWallet’s Senior Creative Director.

- With your own best in class design POV you have the core ability to lead your team in creative development and ideation across both typical campaign advertising channels and the NerdWallet brand at large.
- You are able to take the 10k foot view and propose new ideas and processes in service of driving innovation and impact.

Your experience:

- BFA in Visual or Communication Design or similar field
- 10+ years of applied design experience, 4+ years of proven management experience
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
- Excellent graphic design skills (layout, typography, color)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of UX design principles
- Ability to successfully manage a group of designers while also contributing strategically on an individual level
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to keep abreast of innovative trends and technologies
