The Opportunity

We are searching for a strategic and inquisitive Data Scientist to develop and run with data-centered projects that inform and promote our continued growth and expansion. You will harness your deep experience of Data Science to turn data into strategic insights and meaningful solutions. Our ideal candidate has a strong quantitative and analytical background and is excited to build this function and contribute to a multitude of projects.

How You’ll Contribute at Buildout

  • Build, improve and maintain data-driven projects to help build critical solutions to difficult problems
  • Collect and clean data from various sources and translate into strategic insights and actionable business recommendations
  • Select and employ advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights
  • Produce and distribute non-technical reports that detail the successes and limitations of each project
  • Stay informed about developments in Data Science and adjacent fields to ensure that outputs are always relevant
  • Set and achieve Buildout sponsored personal and professional goals

What You’ll Bring to Buildout

  • Extensive experience as a Data Scientist
  • Proficiency in R, Python, and/or other relevant languages and frameworks
  • Strong experience with SQL database design, architecture and querying
  • Strong experience in machine learning principles, frameworks and technique
  • Demonstrable history of devising and overseeing data-centered projects
  • Ability to succinctly relay insights to inform business decisions
  • Excellent applied analytics and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • An ability to move quickly in an an agile and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • An openness to interfacing with your customers to better understand what they need
  • A wanting to learn-it-all personality (versus know-it-all)

We are based in Chicago, but this is a remote-friendly role open across most of the US. The salary range for this position starts at $110,000.
