HaloMD leads the way in Independent Dispute Resolution under the No Surprises Act, using data, technology, and deep healthcare expertise to secure predictable reimbursement for out-of-network providers in anesthesia, emergency medicine, air ambulance, and more.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Data Operations Lead to oversee the day-to-day management of our data pipelines, governance, and operational efficiency. This role requires a hands-on expert who can build, optimize, and monitor complex data systems, ensure data quality, and collaborate across departments to drive business insights and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Data Operations function, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance management.
- Work with Data Engineering team to help implement and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
- Administer and manage the cloud data stack and associated tools
- Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, data governance, infrastructure and business teams to meet data requirements and support decision-making.
- Work with the data governance function to establish and enforce governance policies, including data quality standards, metadata management, and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data infrastructure for performance, cost, and reliability, including cloud and SaaS usage, and help with budgeting for software
- Work in collaboration with DevOps team to establish and maintain change management practices
- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and best practices.
- Partner with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to streamline ingestion, transformation, and accessibility of datasets.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response protocols for data systems.
- Stay up to date with the latest data technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Data Operations, Data Engineering, or similar roles, with 2+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
- Proficient in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).
- Experience administering and monitoring Snowflake / SaaS stack.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD for data pipelines, and infrastructure as code is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of data observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Monte Carlo).
- Certification in cloud services (e.g., Azure, Snowflake certification).
