Copy Editor (contract)

Remote

We are seeking a remote senior level contract Copy Editor with experience working for agencies and/or consulting firms creating and editing original copy across digital channels to generate creative for thought leadership and various teams across Cro Metrics.

The right candidate can seamlessly take on our brand voice understand the requirements, style guides, and missions while elevating our brand identity with copy best practices that perform well in each digital channel. They will also interface with our leadership and client-facing account teams as well as staff designers to ensure strategy and program alignment.

Contract Details:

  • Hourly rate of $55-$70/hr
  • Hours will be dependent upon current demand with potential to increase over time

What you’ll do:

Proofreading and Editing:

  • Review and edit written content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and style consistency.
  • Ensure the accuracy of facts, figures, and references.
  • Improve readability and clarity of the content.
  • Ensure adherence to the organization’s style guide and brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with writers and content creators to refine and enhance their work.

Writing and Content Creation:

  • Produce engaging and compelling written content for various platforms, including articles, blog posts, website copy, social media posts, and marketing materials.
  • Conduct thorough research on assigned topics to gather accurate and relevant information.
  • Adapt writing style and tone to suit the target audience and purpose of the content.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop content ideas and strategies.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure all content meets high standards of quality, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Verify proper citation and attribution of sources.
  • Maintain consistency in tone, style, and brand voice across different platforms.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and changes in language usage.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to get data from internal subject matter experts
  • Respond to editing requests and inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and other team members to generate content efficiently and in line with our strategy

What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a copy editor working for agencies and/or consulting firms.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines.
  • Familiarity with various writing styles (e.g., AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style).
  • Proficiency in using editing tools and software.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with SEO and content optimization is a plus.
