Role Description
We’re looking for an experienced content designer to help improve and innovate on our core product experience—the foundations of Dropbox. You’ll drive content strategy and UX writing for features that help millions of people do amazing work every day.
The role is on the newly centralized Content Design team within the Writing Studio, which is responsible for the quality, consistency, and excellence of writing across the company.
While having regular touch points with other content designers, you’ll embed on the Core Experience Design team and partner closely with product designers, design researchers, product managers, and engineers.
On Core Experience, you’ll own content design for key areas of our product like feature adoption, quality improvements, and customer retention. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining consistent language across web, mobile, and desktop platforms, so that Dropbox is always easy to use.
Responsibilities
- Own the content strategy and UX writing across core Dropbox features.
- Deliver high-quality UX writing for menus, onboarding, settings, and core user flows.
- Translate complex concepts into friendly, easy-to-understand experiences.
- Align your work to business goals, user needs, and our style guides.
- Create, maintain, and socialize content guidelines.
- Craft content informed by user feedback, metrics, technical constraints, localization, and accessibility.
- Partner closely with Product Designers, Engineers, Product Managers, Researchers, and other stakeholders.
- Prioritize across a broad range of needs to focus on the highest impact projects.
- Workshop with a first-class team of content designers, improving your work and raising the quality bar for Content Design.
- Collaborate with product marketers and other partners to align messaging.
Requirements
- 5+ years professional writing experience.
- 3+ years in-product writing experience (UI, notifications, errors, tooltips, etc.).
- A portfolio of content design (please send with your application).
- A knack for translating complex technical talk into people speak (we like humans).
- A mind for end-to-end experiences.
- An ability to be both creative and consistent within a controlled vocabulary.
- Skill in prioritizing with competing projects and stakeholders.
- Experience following and creating writing style guidelines.
- Experience partnering with designers, researchers, and product managers.
- Experience writing for mobile apps or across platforms.
- A passion for punctuation (optional: affection for alliteration).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on onboarding and cancellation flows.
- Experience iterating on a mature product.
- Passion for building team culture.
- Skill in demonstrating the impact of Content Design.
