Role: UX Content Designer
Chegg’s Discovery & Engagement org builds personalized, cohesive signed-in user experiences to improve the lives of millions of students around the world. The discovery team onboards our new subscribers and helps them understand the value of all the learning tools & content Chegg has to offer in a personalized way. The engagement team on the other hand is responsible for some of our most used learning experiences like homework, exam & writing help.
The Discovery & engagement team at Chegg is looking for a UX Content Designer to extend our ability to create user experiences that help students succeed. UX Content Designers at Chegg are mission-driven, visionary, analytical, and detail-oriented. They care about their impact on education and on Chegg and can tie back everything we do to our Student First mission.
In this role you’ll connect with other UX Content Designers from other product orgs to shape the way we speak to our users. You’ll join a team of Product Designers and UX Researchers to make learning product experiences discoverable, intuitive & accessible. You will help shape product experiences to build trust with users and deliver on our brand values.
Responsibilities:
Offer a content strategy perspective throughout the product development process, and influence strategic decisions across and within products to improve the overall experience and ensure consistency
Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, product marketers, and engineers to create highly usable experiences
Develop content frameworks, product narratives, and other deliverables that explain your recommendations and help people understand the practice of content strategy
Conduct competitive audits and present ideas for using content to achieve project goals
Write clear and concise content across multiple touch points (including labels and navigational elements, interface language, accessibility content, and product emails) for native mobile apps and responsive Web products
Leverage research and user testing to inform and validate content decisions
Help users navigate our platform and apps efficiently and use them effectively while delivering a relevant and personal experience
Work with other writers to maintain and evolve our brand voice and tone, content and UX guidelines, and evangelize those resources across the company
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or greater degree in design, user experience, writing or a related field
2-3 years experience writing user-facing content, including 1+ years specifically for Web or mobile
Excellent writing and editing skills with a mastery of AP style and the confidence to know when to break the rules
Solid understanding of people-centered user experience and interaction patterns
Analytical thinking about customer journeys and content flows
Ability to independently plan and lead content strategy for large-scale projects including future-proof thinking
Demonstrated interest in advocating for the user and ability to make a business case for content
Experience working in a collaborative design environment, presenting work, and giving and receiving feedback
Portfolio of work creating content for user interfaces, including full flows and microcopy samples
Organized and detail-oriented
Professional, positive, and enthusiastic
Preferred:
Passion for helping people learn and succeed in school and beyond
Interest in trends in learning tools or other apps that college students use and love
Finds, saves, and shares inspiring copy, content patterns, and user experiences
Ability to drive and build support for larger content-led goals and initiatives
