Your Role & Responsibilities
- Train developers to create, audit, and test accessibility compliance using modern testing techniques
- Work closely with development teams to remediate accessibility issues in websites, mobile, and desktop applications
- Develop and maintain a library of accessible components, patterns, and frameworks for developers
- Create instructional materials and a comprehensive resource library to support accessibility best practices
- Conduct manual, functional, and compatibility testing to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA
- Provide technical guidance on accessibility best practices and advocate for inclusive web development
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop monitoring frameworks and improve accessibility processes
- Use tools like NVDA, VoiceOver, ZoomText, and Dragon NaturallySpeaking to evaluate accessibility
Skills & Experience You Should Possess
- 5+ years of experience in accessible web development, testing, training, and remediation
- Strong expertise in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA compliance
- Hands-on experience developing accessible websites, desktop, and mobile applications
- Proficiency in HTML, XML, CSS, ARIA, JavaScript, and frameworks like Angular
- Experience with JUnit and Selenium testing frameworks
- Applied understanding of how web accessibility elements (or their absence) affect users with disabilities
- Ability to test and report accessibility compliance using various testing techniques and tools
- Experience with manual, functional, and compatibility testing
- Strong stakeholder management skills to drive accessibility adoption and process improvement
- Experience collaborating and training remote teams using Microsoft Teams or Skype
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience optimizing code and design for accessibility
- Familiarity with accessibility compliance monitoring frameworks
- Certifications in web accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC, WAS, or CPWA)
Education & Certifications You Need
- No strict degree requirements-demonstrated experience in accessibility engineering is most important
- Relevant accessibility certifications are a plus
