The Communications Manager is responsible for developing, updating, and executing online and offline program communications for UnitedHealthcare Hearing. In this role, you will support the end-to-end development of required communications, working to ensure compliance and improve the member and provider experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide content leadership on projects by partnering with UX, product and other internal or external partners. This may include defining and supporting content inventories, digital content requirements, information architecture, comps/concepts, wireframes, content decks, editorial calendars and content curation
  • Serve as a digital content subject matter expert to partners and stakeholders
  • Partner with business/IT teams to identify important insights and find opportunities to improve user experience and communications that influence those online experiences
  • Actively identify new opportunities, recommend strategies, interactions or approaches and develop content management solutions
  • Contribute towards communication strategies that fulfill business needs; add value to strategic brainstorming sessions; provide suggestions for the development of tactical deliverables and translate objectives; ensure that the project deliverables are on time
  • Develop and present strategies or creative briefs to leadership and key stakeholders to achieve buy-in, gather insights and facilitate the evolution of new or existing communication projects
  • Support content management of hearing websites
  • Utilize your expertise on communications that will strengthen brand awareness and reputation, and achieve growth and retention targets
  • Develop and implement a modern communications infrastructure that reduces low-level administrative burden on communicators
  • Be the business subject matter expert, solid verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to understand processes and drive end-to-end communication development, approval and execution
  • Demonstrate and apply understanding of regulations and health care industry trends tied to operational materials/letters
  • Collaborate with business owners, process owners and technical stakeholders to identify specific requirements and lend support to the solution
  • Identify gaps between current state and desired state and help socialize the road map to improvement
  • Communicate ongoing status updates to all stakeholders to ensure continued understanding of and alignment with project status/updates
  • Identify, escalate and help resolve issues communicated by stakeholders
  • Cultivate relationships with applicable internal business partners to drive support, adopting and collaboration on transactional letters projects
  • Ensure messaging of communications aligns with internal health literacy practices and individual program requirements
  • Manage the review and approval workflow for member facing digital communications, including Business SME, legal, compliance and regulatory approvals
  • Regularly host calls, serve as an active participant in other’s meetings and be an advocate for creating, reviewing, approving and implementing member facing digital content and communications
  • Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications
  • 2+ years of experience with documenting processes and practices, often in accepted project methodology artifacts, while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects, and deadlines
  • Experience doing professional writing and editing
  • Experience coordinating key stakeholders for communication materials
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems required (Excel, Word, Visio PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Health Administration or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years MS Project, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Visio
  • Communication or marketing background/experience
  • Healthcare Industry experience

Soft Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and execute on projects in a fast paced environment

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
