JOB OVERVIEW
Research, design, and implement scalable deep learning NLP solutions for clinical and medical data text classification, information extraction, and other related tasks on a dataset composed of several million pathology reports and RWD/RWE
Act as the subject matter expert on feasible and aspired model performance KPIs
Define acceptance criteria for sprint completion and track iterative improvement
Provide guidance on diminishing returns
Develop and implement algorithms and models to analyze large-scale healthcare data sets, including unstructured notes, electronic health records, claims data, and patient-generated data
Perform feature engineering & modeling with multi-modal data
Produce high quality, modular, reusable code that incorporates coding best practices and serves as an example for the broader data science community within the organization
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITITES
PhD in Computational Linguistics, Biomedical/Health Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Drug Development or other discipline related to the job duties of this position
Academic or project experience with the modern Transformer/Attention architecture for text summarization, vectorization, entity extraction and reasoning
3+ years of experience in Natural Language Processing
3+ years of experience in applied data science over a broad range of use cases
1+ years of relevant research experience outside of Ph.D.
Significant experience working with text data and natural language processing techniques
Some experience with RWD/RWE desirable
Expert level skills with Python or/and Java/Kotlin
Significant experience working with deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch
Experience with advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques, such as regression analysis, decision trees, deep learning, and reinforcement learning
Familiarity with healthcare and clinical studies regulations, ethical aspects and compliance requirements
Experience with data de-identification and synthetic data generation/upscaling
Experience identifying relevant and novel research directions and generating meaningful research outputs including papers and software
Clear understanding of common data science methodologies and techniques
The job may require up to 20% travel to Los Angeles, CA
