Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies-from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups-use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Product Design team is made up of several groups that define, create, and deliver all user-facing aspects of Stripe’s brand and product. Product Designers are strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management within their product area. In close collaboration with product teams, they shape user experiences, then translate them into high-quality designs that can be tested, shipped, and refined. Designers are responsible for building elegant, functional products that users love-and want to tell others about.

What you’ll do

The Dashboard team ensures Stripe works seamlessly for every merchant-regardless of how their business is structured or which products they use. Our goal is to make Stripe feel like it was built just for them.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively connect business ideas to product
  • Look ahead and provide a compelling product vision
  • Be a leader and drive product initiatives across teams
  • Set and exemplify a deep commitment to craft & product excellence
  • Share ideas and opportunities through high-fidelity prototypes and expert storytelling
  • Work across the entire design organization to develop innovative frameworks and systems that are durable, repeatable and set a new standard for craft across the company
  • Work in a highly collaborative fashion with other designers, product teams, stakeholders and leaders to shape, define, and align on company strategy and roadmaps
  • Regularly present your work to company and design leadership; able to act on and iterate against multiple streams of feedback, quickly producing new iterations that incorporate relevant feedback

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Has 7+ years relevant design experience at a tech, product-driven companyAbility to operate independently at a high altitude to turn ambiguous, complex, horizontal problems into concrete visions (in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders) that bring together multiple team strategies
  • Experience navigating through complexity and understand the value of reaching for simplicity (no matter how complex the space is)
  • Experience partnering closely with product, engineering and other cross-functional teams to drive design vision and strategy
  • Experience turning business objectives into customer-centered problems and steering team strategy
  • Comfortable presenting work to company leadership regularly
  • Have strong craft and visual design skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Ability to balance big thinking with incremental rollout
  • Has a passion for meaningful innovation and bringing delight to software experiences
  • Skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional partners and stakeholders through strong design or written communication; crave feedback to help you produce your best work
  • Experience working with or leading groups of peers or more junior designers as a design manager or IC

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.
