About the Role
Art Director
Remote – GMR
ABOUT GMR MARKETING
We are the Experience Agency Making Unforgettable Stories Born of Humanity
NOT JUST EXPERIENTIAL. EXPERIENCE.
The lines have blurred. People live in the physical, digital, and social worlds all at once, and your brand experiences should do the same.
NOT JUST TELLING. MAKING.
The best stories are lived, not heard. Make an immersive world for people to explore so they can experience something they’ll never forget.
NOT JUST CONSUMERS. HUMANS.
It all starts with the human. If you want to make a lasting impact, look beyond the wallet to understand what motivates and inspires people.
You’re an experienced art director. You’re a creative visionary, although you may be too humble to describe yourself that way. Designers come to you for advice because you make their work better. You’re an expert at both kinds of leading. Your keen eye brings value to helping your team create the best work possible; and you’ve graduated from hands-on design to mentorship, pushing pixels, and creating concepts.
To thrive in this role, you enjoy collaborating with other smart, passionate, talented people. You think slow is boring. You’re comfortable juggling multiple deadlines. You love a challenge and want to work for the world’s biggest brands. You’re comfortable presenting to clients and managing a small team as needed.
Please submit your portfolio or samples of your work to be considered for this role.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Leadership. You demonstrate leadership and hands-on ability to drive projects that involve motion design, 2D and 3D animation, interactive design, and other digital, time-based executions.
- Educator. You will be a strong educator for the design team. Your leadership will be felt on each project, both internally and externally. You will play a significant role in bettering the design teams’ taste, technical artistry, and career development.
- Design. In this role, you will be responsible for developing concepts through brainstorms, sketching, photo comps, or rough vector designs. Additionally, your technical aptitude will be required when bringing concepts through to reality. Creative focus will be (but not limited to) environmental signage systems, special design décor, retail POS, brand identity development, event branding, and static storyboard visuals. Your work will be on a global stage, in front of millions of humans, for the worlds biggest brands. Your design talent will be deeply evaluated so bring your very best stuff.
- Execution. You will research trends and inspiration to impact design thinking and concepts positively. You have flawless execution of planning and implementation of projects and can understand Visual Identity Systems and Brand Identities and adequately adhere to guidelines/requirements. You understand how to move quickly to visualize a concept and you understand how to technically execute a design file that a vendor can produce from.
- Range of experience. Your design talent must showcase a range of experience across a multitude of channels, from experiential to digital, physical space to hand-held small format. Be prepared to show us the breadth of work you’ve been responsible for.
- AI / Technical aptitude. You understand how to leverage AI and other emerging technologies to accelerate your work, from learning rapidly about a brand or event, to leveraging for rapid concepting and enhancing your design expertise.
- Time management. You can prioritize and meet multiple deadlines, working well in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision and managing multiple lines of design projects.
- Collaboration. You are holding yourself and those on your team accountable, supporting each other to seize opportunities, and coming to the most innovative and effective process as a team.
- System proficiency. You will join our team with a previous understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Design chops. You also have strong typography and layout skills and extra points if you have agency experience working as a designer with and for other creative types.
- Presentation skills. You understand how to pull together elements of or a full presentation for your team. This includes proficiency in PowerPoint and other presentation mechanisms.
- Travel. You are comfortable traveling 10%-15% of the role based on business needs; this would be to meetings at the client headquarters or to events.
