About the Role:
As an Firmware Engineer, you will be a key member of the hardware team leading an embedded project from start to finish. Both an exceptional technical engineer as well as a leader, you are able to architect, execute, and test complex embedded systems on a range of platforms from bare metal, RTOS, Linux, and mobile OS.
This role will help build the next-generation HW platforms for Motive. This person understands how to ship high-volume quality hardware and has done it many times; experience with mobile platforms and surrounding technologies a must. You have shipped hundreds of thousands if not millions of devices through the devices you have developed.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and development of high-performance firmware and software for cutting-edge mobile platforms and cameras
- Debug, optimize, and validate firmware on complex embedded multi-core architectures.
- Participate in ground-breaking hardware and research projects
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Strong programming experience and demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including development of algorithms, manipulation of complex data structures, and implementing highly optimized code
- Consumer electronics experience or familiarity with 3-4 or relevant technologies: mutli-core ARM processors, GPUs, WiFi/BT, cameras.
- Familiarity with ARM or equivalent embedded multi-core microprocessor architectures is required
- Strong understanding of operating systems concepts such as thread scheduling, context switching and memory management is required.
- Candidate is expected to have experience in using ARM debuggers.
- Ability to understand hardware design and schematics.
- Prior experience with overseeing board bring-up and validation
- Linux OS with ARM or any microcontroller
- Automotive protocols such as J1939, J1587 J1850 etc ..
- Peripheral protocols such as UART , CAN, SPI etc …

About the Role
We’re looking for well-rounded engineers who want to take on big projects, collaborate closely with others, grow a lot, and help shape the future of the company. Our engineering organization is split into product-based squads. You’ll be joining one of these squads and working most closely with each engineer and product manager within the squad.

- Led architecture of complex systems and able to articulate design decisions and tradeoffs
- Proficient in building and scaling distributed systems to ensure seamless performance and growth adaptability
- Demonstrated understanding of programming and advanced design patterns beyond the typical MVC
- Experience in optimizing large-scale applications, specifically those processing millions of daily transactions and managing terabyte-sized databases
- Professional web application development experience, with a focus on the heavy utilization of either commercial or open-source web application frameworks
- Fluent in web services/API standards like REST and GraphQL
- Experience in professional RDBMS development, with an emphasis on complex SQL, DML, DDL, and well-architected schemas.
- Direct experience with PostgreSQL would be advantageous
- Familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Pig, Hive, Redis, MemcacheD, and Redshift would be a bonus
- Experience with Salesforce development tools like Apex, LWC, Visualforce, and SOQL
- Experience in developing Chrome Extensions is a plus
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
