SUMMARY
The Software Development Engineer (SDE) will participate in all phases of software development to build services to support the goals of the organization on our Marketing Technology team. This position will be responsible for driving service and product performance opportunities, from idea generation to scoping, to strategy building and ultimately automation for self-monitoring, self-diagnosing and self-healing solutions. Additionally, the SDE will creatively deal with ambiguity and juggle cross-organization complexity.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Collaborate effectively with peer teams and key partner services to deliver robust engineering product.
  • Design, document, develop, debug and test software solutions.
  • Influence strategy and roadmap through technical and non-technical insights.
  • Interface with customer support team and other engineers to gather requirements and determine scope of projects.
  • Mentor junior team members in career growth and assist in task management and Agile planning.
  • Organize and participate in collaborative Q&A sessions, workshops, presentations to share technical knowledge amongst the team.
  • Solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.
  • Work to resolve the root cause of complex problems, leaving software better and easier to maintain.
  • Work with software QA teams to develop test plans and test automation.
  • Work with your team to invent, design, and build software that is stable and performant.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development/Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of extensive Java & Spring Boot experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience using AWS or other similar cloud services provider (DynamoDB, EC2, SQS, SNS, S3, and/or Redshift).
  • At least one (1) year of experience with open source tools and frameworks (Git, SpringMVC, SpringBoot, Maven, Gradle, Ant, JUnit, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.).

Smartsheet is looking for our next Engineering Manager to help us build and drive some of our projects and operational initiatives in the MONDO team. This team owns Tier 1 services, including the monolithic core app deployments, databases, and several supporting components, as well as services which tie together various Smartsheet feature services and Finance.

This is a highly visible area where we are having significant investment. You will help us in hiring, defining the road map, and in technical aspects, such as performance optimization, cost savings, service design, coding best practices, security, and more. You will mentor engineers, scale the team and be a leader on the projects. You will promote positive change in the work environment with experience delivering on commitments. You Have:

  • 8+ years of fullstack software engineering or devops experience and 2+ years managing software engineering teams.
  • A deep software development skills in at least one systems development language such as C#, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Intense curiosity about how things work and a natural drive to continuously improve systems.
  • Experience with modern technology stacks for building scalable, high availability customer-facing applications.
  • Experience in distributed systems, systems automation, and cloud technologies.
  • The drive to dive in, constantly learn new things, and build awesome products
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $167,400 to $243,000 | All other US States: $155,000 to $225,000.

Role Description

We’re eager to add an experienced UX Director to lead the teams, strategy, and execution of key user experience elements of our Quickbase platform builder. This team is part of the Product Management organization and works closely with product and engineering teams.

You will manage Content Design and UX Managers and their teams who are responsible for UI and UX strategy, design and content for the total Quickbase platform user experience.

What Success Looks Like in this Role:

  • Inspire and lead a team of 17+ content, visual, and interaction designers including people managers
  • Own overall vision and direction for the user interaction experience of the platform
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to develop the new UX strategy and execute across the platform
  • Bring operational knowledge and workflow excellence to managing the team
  • Form a bridge between the design team and product/engineering teams to ensure that business goals and user needs always align
  • Facilitate cross-team and collaborative workshops to discuss and visualize what those perspectives look like in terms of the users’ and business’ goals
  • Working with the product User Research team, identify and articulate high-impact research questions and opportunities that could help drive strategic design decisions
