Title: Accessibility Consultant
Location: USA-
Job Description:
Looking for a technology job where you can do good and do well? Level Access, Inc. helps companies design and enhance their digital systems – including websites, web applications, software, hardware, and services – so they are usable by people with disabilities. Our work allows organizations to provide equal access through software, training, and consulting solutions!
As our Accessibility Consultant you will work with clients to test and validate user interfaces against accessibility requirements and consult on the effective technical implementation of digital accessibility requirements in client systems. You will utilize your experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Your Responsibilities
- Test plan Definition – work with our global teams to determine the boundaries of the testing environment for our clients. The Accessibility Consultant will identify a representative test plan of the user interface components found in the client’s system.
- Testing – test client’s systems against specific manual tests and assistive technology tools. As a consultant you will conduct evaluations with our proprietary browser extension – that integrates the business and technical aspects of following the latest accessibility regulations in the industry.
- Technical Consultation – You will consult with customers on the proper methods for implementing digital accessibility in systems. This will span a variety of web, mobile, hardware and document systems. This will drive follow-up discussions to create a road map to improve the accessibility and usability of the client’s IT system
- Consistency and Quality Assurance – You will work to support, review and provide a feedback loop, maintaining consistency and quality together with our globally diversified group of accessibility professionals.
Your Qualifications
- Technical Experience – If HTML, JavaScript, and CSS make you want to get out of bed in the morning, this is probably a good job for you. We are looking for someone with a core understanding of web development technologies and how they impact the user experience. Experience developing user interfaces and PDF documents is a plus.
- Communicative – You should be able to clearly and effectively communicate with clients in both written and verbal fashion. Written communication should show a high attention to detail. Our consulting positions are on the front-line with our customers and it is imperative that you build confidence when speaking with customers. Excels with meeting facilitation skills and the ability to be an effective team player.
- Testing Focus – A portion of what you will do involves testing interfaces and validating that they conform to technical requirements. A desire to perform this validation and experience testing web-based interfaces for compliance with design specifications is critical.
- Organized – We seek to hire and advance people that have this focus and can execute activities on their own, over a long period of time without a large amount of management oversight. A candidate that will succeed in this environment should have a desire to grow in the system over several years and seek to build towards big goals.
- Excellence Focused – At Level Access, we have been successful because we constantly seek to be the best in our market across all the products and services we provide. Think the Ritz Carlton, not the Holiday Inn. In practice, that means we both charge more and invest more, with the end goal of providing far more value per dollar spent than our competitors. It also means that we focus on a very high level of quality and hold ourselves accountable for delivering against that level of quality.
- Flexibility and Adaptability – The dynamic and ever-changing nature of the technology and accessibility spaces coupled with nature of an ever-growing organization require candidates that are flexible, adaptable and able to thrive in a fast pace and high-pressure environment.
- Multi-tasking – ability to lead multiple tasks and organize your work effectively, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Personal Organization – You should have strong experience in both waterfall and agile PM tools such as JIRA.
