Job Description
Associate Product Manager
Location: Chicago, IL or Remote
Our Value Proposition: Clearcover is a venture-backed technology start-up disrupting the trillion-dollar legacy insurance market. We’ve focused on building products that create confident, happy customers – and we’re flourishing. We believe in putting our people first, paying them well, and working together to solve tough problems. If you’d like a high-growth opportunity with an award-winning company, let’s chat.
We are also excited to announce that Clearcover is ranked #151 on this year’s Inc. 5000 list, landing us in the Top 3% of the fastest-growing privately held companies in America!
In this Role:
We are looking for a Product Manager to help meet our growth, profitability and retention goals by leading the implementation of our insurance rating product in our technology solutions. Pricing and underwriting are at the core of what makes an insurance company great.
We need someone with a practical knowledge of working in a highly regulated domain, business analysis around complex requirements, stakeholder management, roadmap development, and building out comprehensive backlogs and user stories that drive value for the user. You will work directly with product leadership, our insurance team and other functional leaders of the organization to understand how our insurance product directly impacts our customers and business goals, come up with creative solutions to meet them, and then work with engineering to execute on the roadmap. We are looking for a natural problem solver who puts the user front and center, can work amidst ambiguity, and be willing (and able) to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
We are a small team trying to do big things. What you oversee will change as our needs change. We promise this is the most fun you’ll have in your career and also the hardest thing you’ll do.
What will you do as a Product Manager here at Clearcover?
- You will work with product and insurance leadership to drive product expansion, roadmap development, and backlog prioritization.
- You will collaborate with the insurance team on KPI development for the insurance product, including monitoring of qualitative and quantitative feedback to help drive product decisions, improvements, and growth.
- You will collaborate with cross-team leaders to develop project plans that align with the goals of the project and then help coordinate the efforts during project execution.
- You will partner with other leaders from Growth, Underwriting, Product Design and Engineering to identify business opportunities that will improve our product offering.
- You will write user stories, facilitate refinement and planning sessions, and UAT product deliverables.
- You will guide your roadmap from requirements definition through design, testing, launch and post-launch measurement.
- You will look for opportunities to improve how we work and help implement the improvements.
- You will use data to support hypotheses and outcomes to drive roadmap priorities.
What will you bring as a Product Manager?
- Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- You have 2+ years of experience working as a product manager/product owner in an agile environment.
- You have 2+ years of experience of writing user stories that drive value for the user.
- You have 2+ years writing acceptance criteria, preferably in the form of BDD scenarios.
- Know your way around a relational data model.
- You are a great executor. You have a proven track record of successfully leading concept creation, discovery and delivery of a given product and product increment. You value iteration and rapid delivery. You have an obsessive attention to detail even when having to juggle multiple projects at a time.
- You’re able to communicate effectively, both internally and externally, and can navigate complex relationships to get the job done.
- You have the ability to manage up — leverage functional leaders and other senior leadership to help achieve goals and deliver on product roadmaps.
- Natural curiosity and a passion for providing the best user experience possible.
- Previous insurance experience is not needed, but is a plus.
- Startup experience is not needed, but is a plus.
- A bias for action and willingness to be accountable for your actions.
