Amplify Tutoring launched in response to heightened student needs driven by disruptions in schooling and unfinished learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. High-dosage tutoring has gained national momentum as a proven research-based support to close achievement gaps for students. This is an opportunity to join an innovative, rapidly growing team that is helping schools, districts, and states to scale high-impact tutoring programs and meet student needs. Amplify works in close partnership with districts and states on an array of tutoring initiatives, including providing small group reading tutoring directly to district students through Amplify Tutors, tutoring materials and professional development for district-managed tutors, and consultancy services for districts to scope and implement in-house high-impact tutoring.

Amplify is looking to hire an Associate Director, Tutoring Design & Knowledge Management with a background in foundational literacy teaching, coaching, school leadership and/or professional development design and facilitation, to join our Tutoring Talent team and make a nation-wide impact on student foundational early literacy gains through highly effective tutors.

The successful candidate will be well versed in adult learning principles, highly organized, and have experience in training and development in the Science of Reading and elementary pedagogy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Director, Tutoring Design & Knowledge Management is responsible for designing all national onboarding and ongoing coaching and development for Amplify Tutors, which is delivered 100% virtually through asynchronous training along with synchronous group and individual coaching. Coaching and development that tutors receive will ensure that all Amplify tutors are positioned to grow students’ foundational literacy knowledge at an above-average rate. In addition, the Associate Director, Tutoring Design & Knowledge Management will develop training materials that are used by other districts’ tutors who are learning how to use Amplify Tutoring materials.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop a comprehensive, efficient and scalable initial and ongoing coaching and development strategy that reflects company, departmental and regional team priorities
  • Design professional development assets, including but not limited to initial onboarding, national ongoing trainings and specialized group offerings
  • Collaborate with the larger organization to assist with the selection, implementation and build-out of an LMS that will house learning and development resources for Tutoring
  • Regularly assess the impact and effectiveness of professional development assets by analyzing feedback from PD participants, internal colleagues, and student achievement data
  • Clarify and communicate training objectives, success criteria, issues, risks and decisions to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with Training and Enablement team to understand upcoming program updates and releases and incorporate them into development, as applicable
  • Create resources and guidance that allow for turnkey virtual use of curriculum protocols and exercises; including managing third-party vendor relationships as needed
  • Design training and coaching materials in alignment with tutor rubric expectations
  • Apply a deep understanding of adult learning theory to all coaching and development offerings
  • Thrive in managing multiple projects
  • Continually seek process improvement with an eye toward innovation and detail
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director, Tutoring Onboarding and Ongoing Development, and regional tutor coaches to implement a comprehensive professional development program for tutors, ensuring that it aligns with the department’s goals and objectives
  • Develop hiring tasks and training for specialized Tutoring support teams such as the assessment team
  • Innovate and react quickly as business realities change, staying up to date on best practices

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5+ years of PreK-12 classroom foundational literacy teaching experience
  • Experience developing and managing large-scale projects in an education setting, including creating detailed plans,meeting deadlines, and maintaining a budget
  • At least 2+ years of experience designing and facilitating professional development sessions and helping educators, preferably tutors, online, at scale, with proven results
  • Proven knowledge of adult learning principles and experience applying them when delivering learning experiences to adults
  • Demonstrated proficiency with instructional and visual design
  • Strong knowledge around best practices for implementing high-quality, Science of Reading aligned instruction in early literacy in order for students to meet and exceed rigorous grade level standards
  • Experience teaching and/or supporting implementation of Amplify literacy products
  • Experience analyzing project feedback data and using it to inform implementation next steps
  • Proven time management skills when managing multiple tasks
  • Excellent skill and comfort with technology-based productivity tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Applications and video conferencing programs (Google Meet, Zoom)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of and experience using Amplify mCLASS products, including designing training resources for mCLASS
  • Prior experience working with a tutoring program
  • Prior tutor coaching experience
  • Prior experience designing initial training resources/courses to be used via an LMS
  • Experience using Easy Generator, Canva, and Google Sites
  • Biliteracy a plus (Spanish)

WHAT WE OFFER
The Associate Director, Tutoring Design & Knowledge Management will report directly to the Executive Director, Tutoring Talent. The range for this role is $100,000-$115,000, with potential for an annual bonus.
