Assoc Director – Enterprise Data Engineering

Summary:

Supervises and supports management and staff responsible for the implementation, configuration, and operation of the Company’s IT infrastructure and applications. Provides guidance and direction to the appropriate resources to increase the efficiency of all systems, minimize downtime, comply with processes & procedures, and ensure completion of projects on schedule and within budget.

Essential Functions:

  1. Line management responsibilities for managers and staff. For direct and indirect reports, may participate in activities such as interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports and requests for leave. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, priorities, and methods.
  2. The role will have scope of impact that is technology and functional business area focused.
  3. Ensures adherence standards and procedures for computing to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, existing Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and generally accepted industry practices.
  4. Coordinates resources, project schedules and communications for IT related activities.
  5. Writes goals for team members that are aligned to corporate strategic objectives.
  6. Develops team members in support of their career objectives and corporate needs.
  7. Builds effective relationships with business staff across the company’s business units to ensure projects to support them are delivered.
  8. Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  9. Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  10. Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using Cloud and SQL technologies
  11. Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
  12. Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  13. Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues

Technical skills and Knowledge

  • Technical mastery and competency in all architecture, with vast knowledge of the capabilities and constraints of technologies supported.
  • Understanding of the designs and technology footprints of multiple products within a product family.
  • Champion engineering process disciplines (e.g., Scrum, Agile, Kanban, ITIL).
  • Champion industry process improvement programs (e.g., CMMI, IOS9000, FDA, Six Sigma).

      • Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%).

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related discipline or equivalent combined education and experience, plus significant information systems/technology experience. Ability to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment is essential. Process-oriented design, strong client service, leadership, and project management skills are essential. Background in CRO, pharmaceutical, biotech development, or health care industry preferred. Highly effective presentation, documentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a team-oriented approach are necessary. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment is essential.
