Title: Associate Director, Creative Strategy

Location: New York or Remote

Complex Networks is diversified around three pillars: advertising, e-commerce, and content where it creates and distributes original programming for Gen Z and Millennial audiences through premium distributors such as Netflix, Hulu, Turner, Corus, Facebook, Snap, YouTube, Roku and more. Additionally, Complex Networks generates revenue through a number of core business lines, including branded content and advertising, licensing, events, e-commerce, and agency consulting services.

The Role

The candidate will be primarily responsible for spearheading and driving innovation efforts within the Creative Strategy department. Responsibilities include leading creative development and packaging of our proprietary tentpoles in collaboration with key cross-functional stakeholders as well as developing large-scale, new-to-world platforms that expand upon Buzzfeed Inc. ‘s suite of products

You Will

  • Partner with Creative Director to drive the Strategy, development and cross-functional collaboration surrounding our brand’s proprietary tentpoles (ComplexCon, ComplexLand, etc.) and energy moments, ensuring that they are packaged and merchandised in a timely, organized manner
  • Provide sound Strategies for groundbreaking new business opportunities based on research/market trends/internal needs/forecasting on a set cadence
  • Drive Strategy, ideation and packaging for the most qualified, large-scale incoming brand partnership opportunities
  • Work cross-functionally across BuzzFeed Inc. to calendarize and merchandise sponsorship opportunities, such as pop-culture tentpoles and proprietary content moments, that will be deployed well-ahead of the sales cycle
  • Work closely with our BI team and other stakeholders to develop unique insights that can be leveraged for brand partnership opportunities and white space exploration
  • Work with strategists to oversee quality control and adherence to best practices on all proprietary tentpole pitches
  • Lead creative internal brainstorms with passion and present and interface with clients
  • Provide reporting surrounding future-facing trends both within culture & the marketplace to help inform strategy across multiple lines of business
  • Work with VP of Creative Strategy, Sr. Creative Director, and sales leadership to outline project ecosystem/management to inform planning decisions and priorities

You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field required.
  • 7 – 10 years of strategy, marketing, creative direction or comparable creative experience
  • Strong writing, grammar and visual communication skills
  • Excellent verbal interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal team and clients.
  • Proven record of cross-functional creative leadership and inspiring team members
  • Proven project management record
  • Well-versed in digital, social media, and experiential marketing as well as the youth culture landscape
  • Strong research skills with the ability to develop insights backed by data
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • The candidate should be able to work in a very fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects at a time
  • A great sense of humor, self-motivation, and the ability to collaborate with a team and work independently.
