As anArt Director, youll work closely with the art staff, editors and content managers at Hagerty Media to design digital and print materials which include print publications, electronic communications (emails, newsletters, etc.), presentations, branding identities, web graphics, social media, data visualization, collateral development, etc.A superior understanding of layout concepts, typography, photography and design software is key. Publication design and photo editing skills are major pluses.

What youll do

  • Design and produce custom print media, including magazines, event programs, pamphlets and advertorials.
  • Design and produce interactive online content, including social media graphics, email templates and promotional ads.
  • Collaborate with senior creatives, editors, and content managers.
  • Conceptualize and assign photo shoots.
  • Conduct image research.
  • Meet with internal teams to develop creative solutions across all channels.
  • Monitor and maintain quality throughout.
  • Prepare images and files for production.
  • Take projects from concept to final delivery.
  • Organize, maintain and back up files.

This might describe you

  • Strong experience in editorial/publication design preferred, ideally with an automotive focus.
  • Proven eye for engaging photography and design that can elicit a wow! response from our readers.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with strong emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InCopy; Microsoft Office products, WordPress and print production. Experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects is highly desired.
  • Experienced using the major social media networks (Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of typography, grids, photography and retouching.
  • Able to capture cars creatively in photography, through editing skills, and in photo research.
  • Deadline-driven, positive attitude and collaborative team work ethic.
  • Open to feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Successful in managing/implementing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • An appreciation for cars, car culture, and the role of the automobile in our culture, past and present.
  • Work well in a deadline oriented environment.

Other things to note

  • This position can ideally be worked as a hybrid position in the Metro Detroit area.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
