Generac Power Systems seeks an Analytics Engineer I to be based in Portland, ME or Remote. This role will be a part of the Field Data Analytics Team, which provides essential oversight of all internet connected and field installed Generac Clean Energy products. This team builds tools to act as an early warning to product related issues and oversees the field monitoring of new product introductions. They scrutinize data collected from all PV related equipment and analyze ‘big data’ to ensure products are working as expected. The successful candidate will effectively understand system performance, identify early signs of product issues, and communicate these back to multiple business groups.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Spearhead and automate field monitoring efforts by accessing and processing system- and device-level data from platform databases, presenting it in a meaningful way
- Identify and report on trends in field performance and device capability/reliability, capturing larger fleet behaviors related to health and performance
- Work closely with Technical Support and Application Engineering teams to rapidly identify and resolve customer issues, providing data in an actionable way
- Feedback field issues and design change proposals to firmware and hardware design teams using data to provide business cases
- Establish and manage beta site monitoring and data collection programs for new products, design revisions, and high visibility projects, normalizing processes and creating documentation of actions
- Interface with software team to develop tools and processes to efficiently extract and present site data
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science, Math/Statistics, Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience working with analysis of big data
- Familiarity with query databases (ex: SQL, Apache Hive, or Apache Phoenix)
- Experience using one or more statistical analysis tools (ex: MatLab, MiniTab, SPSS, or R)
- Knowledge of statistical analysis languages (ex: R, Python, SAS, or Stata)
- Strong data visualization/presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding or history of working with power electronics/IoT devices
- Familiarity with Renewable Energy/Solar/Energy market
- Experience with Superset, Tableau, PowerBI or equivalent visualization tools
- Knowledge of Agile/Sprint Methodologies and best practices for software development
