What You’ll Do
- Lead the technical execution of WordPress projects from discovery through deployment
- Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable WordPress solutions
- Build and configure modern WordPress sites using custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks
- Develop custom FSE templates and reusable block patterns
- Mentor developers and lead peer code reviews
- Write and maintain technical documentation and specifications
- Collaborate with PMs, UX, and design teams to align technical solutions with client goals
- Participate in client meetings to clarify requirements and discuss technical direction
- Provide architectural guidance, team continuity, and project-level oversight
What You Need
- 8+ years of professional WordPress experience
- Deep expertise in Gutenberg block development, ACF, CPTs, taxonomies, REST API integration
- Skilled in PHP, JavaScript, React (Next.js a plus), HTML/CSS, and MySQL
- Familiarity with tools like GitHub, Docker, CLI, and multi-environment workflows
- Strong understanding of modern web standards, performance, and accessibility
- Experience leading development teams and mentoring engineers
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities while keeping projects on track
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in a remote agency environment
- Knowledge of performance optimization, accessibility standards, and CI/CD best practices
- Contributions to the WordPress community or open-source projects
Compensation
- Salary range: $92,050 – $121,825, depending on experience and location
