- Travel required up to 4 times per year for internal events
What You’ll Do
• Build and evolve Canonical’s design system to drive adoption, consistency, scalability, and accessibility
• Translate user needs and brand principles into reusable components, patterns, and guidelines
• Design and document UI components, design tokens, and interaction patterns
• Champion design system governance and best practices across teams with clear documentation and support
• Deliver against the roadmap with strong project ownership and deadline discipline
• Advocate for accessibility, performance, and scalability, iterating based on data and platform constraints
• Stay on top of design system trends while keeping the system coherent and maintainable
What You Need
• UX or product design experience with a strong focus on design systems in complex environments
• Portfolio showing component libraries, documentation, and real world system adoption
• Expertise in Figma, Storybook, and design token workflows
• Strong collaboration skills with engineers and comfort bridging design and code
• Clear communication and decision documentation, with sharp attention to detail
• Ownership mindset for transparent delivery and hitting deadlines
• Willingness to travel for team events
