What You’ll Do
- Build and operate shared AI infrastructure used by product squads across the company
- Ship a production AI gateway with model routing, rate limiting, cost controls, and observability
- Create a shared LLM integration framework (prompt management, versioning, guardrails, evaluation)
- Design scalable model serving infrastructure for real-time and batch inference
- Implement automated evaluation pipelines for LLM outputs and AI system reliability
- Improve AI developer experience through clean APIs, documentation, and reusable patterns
- Collaborate with Platform, Data & Analytics, and product technical leads to define integration standards
- Review PRs, mentor engineers, and set engineering practices for the AI platform squad
- Help hire and grow the team to 3–4 engineers and establish on-call and operating rhythms
What You Need
- Proven experience building and operating production AI/ML infrastructure (model serving, inference pipelines, LLM gateways, or similar)
- Hands-on LLM application development experience (prompting, RAG, guardrails, production tradeoffs)
- Daily use of AI coding tools (they specifically call out Claude Code)
- Strong platform mindset: designing systems other engineers consume, with strong documentation and developer experience
- Experience implementing cost controls and scale strategies for AI inference (routing, caching, optimizations)
- Experience leading or tech-leading a small engineering team (2–5 engineers) while remaining highly hands-on
- Business outcome orientation (conversion, retention, efficiency), not just model metrics
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, remote, high-ownership environment
