What You’ll Do
- Build production software hands-on across the stack (front-end through database)
- Architect, design, and implement scalable technical solutions aligned to product needs
- Establish and maintain sound software architecture and engineering best practices
- Improve engineering team processes based on real project learnings
- Mentor and coach non-staff engineers, leveling up the whole team
- Partner closely with Product and Design to execute new ideas and features
- Help grow Steno’s developer community and represent Steno externally when needed
What You Need
- 6+ years of software development experience
- Strong git skills and experience across multiple programming languages (static and dynamic)
- Strong relational database knowledge and comfort writing SQL
- Familiarity with multiple architectures (monolithic, n-tier, distributed) and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with cloud-based CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with unit and integration testing in real production environments
- Proven track record shipping well-engineered products with modern tech
- Full-stack fundamentals: you understand web apps from pixels to queries
- Familiarity with Steno’s stack: Node.js + TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL (strongly preferred)
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
