What You’ll Do
- Design and implement reusable frameworks, Java components, and product features for large-scale backend systems
- Develop data pipelines, ingesting structured and unstructured data into Hadoop and other distributed Big Data environments
- Support and maintain automated ETL pipelines; validate and transform extracted datasets for reporting and analytics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and high-performance backend solutions
- Troubleshoot production issues and develop long-term solutions for data reliability and efficiency
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to coding best practices and process improvements
What You Need
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of software development experience focused on backend or data engineering
- Strong proficiency in Java, Python, Node.js, or similar backend programming languages
- Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies: Hadoop, Hive, Pig, MapReduce, HBase, Spark, or equivalent
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale relational and distributed database systems (e.g., Vertica, MySQL, Oracle, BigQuery)
- Experience with ETL tools, shell scripting, and workflow schedulers like Airflow or Oozie
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Expertise with version control tools like Git and agile development practices
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, data-driven environments
