Schedule
- Full-time, remote role open to candidates in the US or Canada (excluding Quebec).
- Must be available to work core EST hours (9am–5pm).
- Option to periodically connect at offices in Toronto or Halifax.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and scale real-time distributed systems serving millions daily.
- Build and evolve high-performance microservices in Golang and Python on AWS.
- Scale and harden Kafka-based event platforms processing 200K+ messages per second.
- Improve observability, reduce operational overhead, and ensure system reliability.
- Partner with Data Science, Analytics, Security, and Product teams to deliver platform capabilities.
- Mentor engineers, review code, and guide technical decisions.
What You Need
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with distributed backend systems.
- Expertise in Golang and/or Python and high-traffic production services.
- Proven experience with real-time data tools (Kafka, Flink, Kinesis).
- Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with large-scale data platforms (EMR, Airflow, Redshift, Spark).
- Experience building highly reliable, 24/7 backend systems.
- Mentorship or leadership experience.
